Happiness Bird

Free crochet tutorial for the Happiness Bird by Antonina Naimanova @naimanova_toys.
With this pattern, you can crochet a plush little bird. Any plush yarn will work for this amigurumi project. You will need two colors: a main shade and white for the chest. For the face, you will need safety eyes and a plastic beak. The whole toy is crocheted as one piece. The bird can be finished as a keychain.
Materials and Tools
- Plush yarn 100 g / 120 m (for example, Himalaya Dolphin Baby)
- 4.5 mm crochet hook
- 10 mm safety eyes
- Toy beak
- Toy stuffing
- Stitch markers
- Pins
- Keychain hardware
- Needle for sewing on pieces
- Scissors

Crochet Amigurumi Happiness Bird Pattern
Start with white yarn.
1: Chain 2, then crochet 6 sc into the second chain from the hook (6)
2: 6 inc (12)
Change to the main yarn color (cut and fasten off the white yarn)
In the Next Round, Crochet the Wings
Wing — chain 5, then starting in the 3rd ch from the hook: 1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc.
3: 1 sc, inc, 1 sc, wing, (inc, 1 sc) x 2, inc, wing, (1 sc, inc) x 2 (18)
4: 4 sc before the wing, 8 sc between the wings, 6 sc to the end of the round (18)
5: 17 sc (not a full round)
In the Next Round, Crochet the Tail and Crest
Tail — chain 3, into the 3rd ch from the hook: 1 dc, 2 ch, sl st.
Crest — chain 4, into the 4th ch from the hook: (1 sl st, 3 ch) x 2, sl st.
Remove the marker:
6: Tail (fig. 1),
Fold the piece in half (fig. 2) and crochet through both halves: 9 sl st (fig. 3-4) (do not forget to stuff), crest (fig. 5).

Cut the yarn and fasten off.
Glue on:
- the beak between rounds 2 and 3;
- the eyes between rounds 3 and 4.
Attach the keychain hanger.
