Amigurumi plush crochet duckling

Free duckling crochet tutorial by @dary_toys_plush.

With these instructions, you can crochet a plush duckling. For this amigurumi, you will need Himalaya Dolphin Baby plush yarn or a similar yarn. Use a premade plastic beak and safety eyes with colored irises. The tuft is made from chains of stitches.

Materials and Tools

  • Himalaya Dolphin Baby plush yarn
  • 4–4.5 mm crochet hook
  • 14 mm safety eyes
  • 24 mm toy beak
  • Toy stuffing
  • Stitch markers
  • Pins
  • Needle for sewing on the parts
  • Scissors

  • inc — increase

Plush Duckling Amigurumi Crochet Pattern

The body and head are crocheted in one piece.

Body and Head

Start crocheting the body from the bottom:

1. 8 sc in MR
2. 8 inc (16)
3. (1 sc, inc) x 8 (24)
4. (3 sc, inc) x 6 (30)
5-9. 30 sc for 5 rounds.
10. 2 dec, 22 sc, 2 dec (26)
11. 2 dec, (2 sc, dec) x 4, 2 sc, 2 dec (18)
12. (dec, 1 sc) x 6 (12)

Work one or two extra sc to shift the start of the round. Then continue crocheting the head.

13. 12 inc (24)
14. (2 sc, inc) x 8 (32)
15-20. 32 sc for 6 rounds.
21. (2 sc, dec) x 8 (24)
22. (1 sc, dec) x 8 (16)
Insert the 14 mm eyes between rounds 18 and 19, with 5 stitches between them.
Insert the beak.
Stuff the piece.
23. (2 sc, dec) x 4 (12)
24. 6 dec

Pull the opening closed, but do not cut the yarn.

Make the Tuft

Make a chain of 8 stitches and attach it to the head with a slip stitch. Repeat 4–5 times.

Legs

Start with orange yarn:

Ch 7.

1. 6 sc along one side of the chain and 6 sc along the other side (12)
2-3. 12 sc for 2 rounds
4. (1 sc, dec) x 4 (8)
5. 2 sc, 2 dec, 2 sc (6)
Change to yellow yarn.
6-8. 6 sc for 3 rounds

Fold the piece in half and work 3 sc through both layers.

Wings

1. 6 sc in MR
2. (1 sc, inc) x 3 (9)
3. (2 sc, inc) x 3 (12)
4. (2 sc, inc) x 4 (16)
5-6. 16 sc for 2 rounds
7. 8 dec

Fold the piece in half and work 4 sc through both layers.

Sew the legs to round 6. Sew the wings to round 11.
