Easter Chick

Free crochet tutorial for an Easter Chick by Svetlana Lyutova @svet_lana_lyutova.
Using this pattern, you can crochet an Easter chick. Any acrylic, cotton, or cotton blend yarn and a matching crochet hook will work for this amigurumi. You can decorate the chick with rhinestones, seed beads, or beads.
The finished toy is about 8.5 cm tall.

- 1.6 mm crochet hook

Head
Use yellow yarn. Stuff as you go.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in MR
Rnd 2: 6 inc = 12 sc
Rnd 3: (1 sc, inc) x 6 = 18 sc
Rnd 4: (2 sc, inc) x 6 = 24 sc
Rnd 5: (3 sc, inc) x 6 = 30 sc
Rnd 6: 30 sc
Rnd 7: (4 sc, inc) x 6 = 36 sc
Rnd 8: (5 sc, inc) x 6 = 42 sc
Rnds 9-15: 42 sc (7 rounds)
Rnd 16: (5 sc, dec) x 6 = 36 sc
Rnd 17: (4 sc, dec) x 6 = 30 sc
Rnd 18: (3 sc, dec) x 6 = 24 sc
Finish with 1 sl st, leaving a tail for sewing.
Body
Stuff as you go. Start crocheting with yellow yarn.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in MR
Rnd 2: 6 inc = 12 sc
Rnd 3: (1 sc, inc) x 6 = 18 sc
Rnd 4: (2 sc, inc) x 6 = 24 sc
Rnd 5: (3 sc, inc) x 6 = 30 sc
Change yarn color and continue with white yarn.
Rnd 6: 30 sc
Rnd 7: in back loops only: (4 sc, inc) x 6 = 36 sc
Rnd 8: 36 sc
Rnd 9: (5 sc, inc) x 6 = 42 sc
Rnd 10: (6 sc, inc) x 6 = 48 sc
Rnds 11-17: 48 sc (7 rounds)
Change yarn color to yellow.
Rnd 18: in back loops only: 48 sc
Rnd 19: (6 sc, dec) x 6 = 42 sc
Rnd 20: (5 sc, dec) x 6 = 36 sc
Rnd 21: (4 sc, dec) x 6 = 30 sc
Rnd 22: (3 sc, dec) x 6 = 24 sc
Rnd 23: (2 sc, dec) x 6 = 18 sc

Finish crocheting and cut the yarn.
Shell Points
Attach white yarn to the front loops of round 18 and crochet the shell points:
Rnd 1: (1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc, 1 sl st, 1 sc, 1 dc, 1 tr, 1 dc, 1 sc, 1 sl st) x 4
Finish crocheting, leaving a tail for sewing. This gives you 4 small points and 4 large points, 8 points in total.
Then sew the shell points to the body by their tips.

Wings (2 Pieces)
Use yellow yarn. Crochet both pieces the same way.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in MR
Rnd 2: 1 sc, work 2 dc in 1 stitch, work 3 tr in 1 stitch, work 2 dc in 1 stitch, 2 sc = 10
Rnd 3: 1 sc, (3 ch, 1 sl st in the next stitch) x 7, 1 sc, 1 sl st
Finish crocheting, leaving a tail for sewing.
Comb
Use red yarn. Chain 6:
Rnd 1: in the 4th stitch, work 1 sl st, 3 ch, 1 sl st in the next stitch, 3 ch, 1 sl st in the first stitch of the chain
Finish crocheting. Leave a tail for sewing.
Legs (2 Pieces)
Use red yarn. Crochet both pieces the same way.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in MR
Rnd 2: 1 sl st, 1 sl st, (4 ch, starting from the 2nd stitch from the hook work 3 sc along the chain, 1 sl st into the same base stitch, 1 sl st in the next stitch) x 3
Finish crocheting, leaving a tail for sewing.

Tail
Use yellow yarn. Do not stuff.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in MR
Rnd 2: (1 sc, inc) x 3 = 9 sc
Rnd 3: (2 sc, inc) x 3 = 12 sc
Rnd 4: 6 sc through both loops
Finish crocheting, leaving a tail for sewing.
Beak
Use red yarn. Make a chain of 8 ch and join it into a ring. Pull the ring tight in the center and tie a knot.
Toy Assembly

- Glue or insert the eyes
- Sew on the beak and comb
- Sew the head to the body. Sew around the head loops and through the ridge between rounds 4 and 5
- Decorate the upper part of the body. Attach white yarn to the front loops of round 7 and crochet 30 sc
- Sew on the wings. Sew the wings only by the upper part
- Sew on the legs
- Sew on the tail. The chick should stand steadily because of the tail, so keep this in mind while sewing it on

- If desired, embroider the whites of the eyes with white yarn and embroider the eyebrows with regular black sewing thread
- Decorate with rhinestones if desired
- Our chick is ready!
