Amigurumi Fox Crochet Pattern
Head
Crochet with orange yarn.
1. 6 sc in MR
2. 3 inc, 3 sc = 9
3. (sc, inc) x 3, 3 sc = 12
4. (2 sc, inc) x 3, 3 sc = 15
5. (3 sc, inc) x 3, 3 sc = 18
6. (2 sc, inc) x 6 = 24
7. (3 sc, inc) x 6 = 30
8-10. 30 sc
11. (3 sc, dec) x 6 = 24
12. (2 sc, dec) x 6 = 18
13. (sc, dec) x 6 = 12
14. 6 dec
Close the opening with a needle.
Ears (make 2)
1. 6 sc in MR
2. (sc, inc) x 3 = 9
3. (2 sc, inc) x 3 = 12
4. 12 sc
Fold the ear in half and crochet sc through both layers. Sew the ears at the level of round 10.
Embroider the nose with black thread (cotton blend/cotton/embroidery floss) and sew the eyes at the level of round 5.
Embroider the whites of the eyes to bring the expression to life. To do this, insert a needle with white thread at the spot where the head will be sewn on. Leave a small thread tail outside. Bring the needle out at the top of the bead eye, lay the thread along the outer side of the eye, and insert the needle at the bottom of the bead. Embroider the second white highlight the same way, then bring the needle out near the thread tail you left. Carefully tighten the knot, make one more securing knot, and hide the knot inside the head with the needle.
Tail
Start crocheting with white yarn.
1. 4 sc in MR
2. 4 inc = 8
3. (3 sc, inc) x 2 = 10
Change to orange yarn.
4-8. 10 sc
9. (3 sc, dec) x 2 = 8
10. (2 sc, dec) x 2 = 6
Heart
Use white Alize Softy yarn.
Crochet into the MR as follows:
ch, sc, 2 hdc, 3 dc, 2 hdc, sc, 3 ch, sc, 2 hdc, 3 dc, 2 hdc, sc, sl st
Pull the ring tight. Leave a yarn tail for sewing.
Legs and Body
Start crocheting the legs.
1. 6 sc in MR.
2. (sc, inc) x 3 = 9
3-5. 9 sc
On the first leg, cut the yarn but do not pull the remaining loop through.
Join the legs and crochet the body: on the second leg, crochet 1 ch and attach the first leg (pull the loop from the first leg through with your hook, gently tighten all the thread tails so there will be no holes at the join later), then crochet sc around:
6. 9 sc along the leg, 1 sc in ch, 9 sc along the leg, 1 sc in ch = 20
7. (3 sc, inc) x 5 = 25
8-10. 25 sc
11. (3 sc, dec) x 5 = 20
12. 4 sc, dec, 8 sc, dec, 4 sc = 18 (the decreases should be placed on the sides)
13. 18 sc
14. (sc, dec) x 6 = 12
15. (2 sc, dec) x 3 = 9
16. 9 sc
Leave a yarn tail for sewing on the head (or hide the yarn end if you sew it on with a different thread).
Arms (make 2)
1. 6 sc in MR
2-8. 6 sc
Pull the opening closed with a needle.
Assembly
- Sew the head to the body.
- Sew the arms at the level of round 15.
- Sew the tail at the level of round 8.
- To help the fox stand while resting on its tail, stuff the tail firmly with fiberfill and sew it on around the edge without flattening it.
- Sew the heart to the chest or belly.
- Decorate as you like: with ribbons, bows, and so on.
