Starfish

Free starfish crochet pattern by @slingobyseni4ka.

With this pattern, you can crochet a little starfish. You can use any acrylic, cotton, or cotton blend yarn suitable for amigurumi, along with an appropriately sized crochet hook.

Materials and tools

• Acrylic yarn (200 m / 50 g)
• 2.5 mm crochet hook
• 8 mm safety eyes
• Fiberfill
• Needle for sewing the pieces together
• Scissors

Abbreviations

• MR — magic ring
• sl st — slip stitch
• sc — single crochet
• inc — increase
• dec — decrease
• (...) x n — repeat n times

Crochet amigurumi starfish pattern

Following the instructions below, crochet two stars. Attach the safety eyes to one of them as you work. Then place the stars together and single crochet through both layers around the edges, stuffing as you go.

Base

Work in the round:

1: 6 sc in MR
2: 6 inc
3: (1 sc, inc) x 6 (18)
4: (2 sc, inc) x 6 (24)
5: (3 sc, inc) x 6 (30)

Eyelids (make 2)

My eyelids are sized for 8 mm eyes. If you are using a different size, simply begin with a chain long enough to match the width of your eyes. Then work sc across the chain and a sl st in the last stitch as described below.

1: Ch 5
Next, work across the chain starting in the second chain from the hook:
2: 3 sc, 1 sl st

Arms (make 5)

Work in turning rows. The first arm continues directly from the base. Join a new strand of yarn to begin each of the remaining four arms.

2: 6 sc
3: 2 sc, dec, 2 sc
4: 5 sc
5: 2 sc, dec, 1 sc
6: 4 sc
7: 1 sc, dec, 1 sc
8: 1 sc, dec
9: dec

Finally, decorate the starfish however you like. I embroidered bright spots on mine, but you can use rhinestones, beads, buttons... There is plenty of room to get creative. 😄
