Legs (make 2)

Work both matching pieces at the same time! Start with red yarn:

1. 6 sc in MR (6)
2. 6 inc (12)
3. (1 sc, inc) x 6 (18)
4. (2 sc, inc) x 6 (24)
5-8. 24 sc (24)
9. 6 dec, 10 sc, dec (17)
10. 4 dec, 3 sc, dec, 4 sc (12)

Do not cut the red yarn. Attach the brown yarn at the heel to the back loop of a stitch in round 10 and crochet:

11. 12 sc in BLO (12), stuff only the shoe
12. 6 dec (6)
13-20. 6 sc (6), cut the yarn and weave in the end

Return to the red yarn and crochet:

  • one round of 12 sc in the FLO of round 10,
  • one more round of 12 dc, then fasten off.

Arms (make 2)

Start with red yarn:

1. 6 sc in MR (6)

8. popcorn stitch made with 3 tr (work 3 incomplete treble crochet stitches into the same stitch, then join them at the top with one loop), 11 sc (12)
9. 12 sc (6)

Do not cut the red yarn. Attach the brown yarn anywhere to the back loop of a stitch in round 9 and crochet:

10. 12 sc in BLO (12), stuff only the hand
11. 6 dec (6)
12-19. 6 sc (6), cut the yarn and weave in the end

Return to the red yarn and crochet one round of 12 sc in the FLO of round 9. Cut the yarn and weave in the end.

28. (7 sc, dec) x 6 (48)
29. (4 sc, dec) x 8 (40)
30. In this round, crochet the arms into the body the same way as the legs. You can shift them 1 sc from the center of each side toward the back, leaving 18-20 sc between the arms at the front. Make the decreases as follows: 1 sc, (dec, 3 sc) x 7, dec, 2 sc (32)
31. (2 sc, dec) x 8 (24)

If you are using safety eyes, insert them between rounds 42 and 43, with 8 sc between their centers.

48. (7 sc, dec) x 6 (48)
49. 3 sc, (dec, 6 sc) x 5, dec, 3 sc (42)
50. (5 sc, dec) x 6 (36)
51. 3 sc, (dec, 4 sc) x 5, dec, 1 sc (30)
52. 1 sc, (dec, 3 sc) x 5, dec, 2 sc (24)
53. (2 sc, dec) x 6 (18)
54. (1 sc, dec) x 6 (12)
55. 6 dec (6), use a needle to close the remaining stitches and hide the yarn end inside the toy

Nose

Crochet with orange yarn:

1. 3 sc in MR (3)
2. 3 inc (6)
3. 6 sc (6)
4. (inc, 2 sc) x 2 (8), leave a long yarn tail

Sew the nose between the eyes, between rounds 40 and 42 of the head.

Scarf

Work in turning rows with white and red yarn.

Make a chain of 4 ch + tch. Begin and end with 4 rows of red yarn. For the rest of the scarf, alternate 2 rows of red and 2 rows of white. The total length should be about 40 cm (15.75 in). A scarf knitted in 1x1 ribbing, 8 stitches wide and about 50 cm (19.75 in) long, would also look lovely. Add pom-poms or tassels if desired.

Bucket

Crochet with gray yarn. If you prefer, you can use another color or make it striped:

1. 7 sc in MR (7)
2. 7 inc (14)
3. (1 sc, inc) x 7 (21)
4. (2 sc, inc) x 7 (28)
5. 28 sc in BLO (28)
6-7. 28 sc (28)
8. (3 sc, inc) x 7 (35)
9-10. 35 sc (35)
11. (4 sc, inc) x 7 (42)
12-13. 42 sc (42)
14. (5 sc, inc) x 7 (49)
15-16. 49 sc (49)
17. (6 sc, inc) x 7 (56)
18-19. 56 sc (56)
20. (7 sc, inc) x 7 (63)
21-23. 63 sc (63)
24. 63 sl st (63)

Do not cut the yarn. Make a chain of 30 ch. Try the bucket on the snowman and check that the chain is long enough to fit under and around the head as the bucket handle. Cut the yarn, then sew the other end of the chain to the opposite side from where it begins.

If you made a solid-color bucket, you can decorate it with embroidery. For example, I added a Christmas tree with a star. You can also add a border of cross-stitch embroidery in white or red.

All that is left is to embroider a smile, if desired. Use regular sewing thread to make it thinner.
