Plush Teddy Bear

Free crochet tutorial for a Plush Teddy Bear by Alexandra Egorova @masterskayapodarkov1.

With this pattern you can crochet a plush bear in a hat and scarf. Any plush yarn and a matching crochet hook will work for this amigurumi. Yarn usage: 1.5 skeins of the main color and 1 skein of blue.

The finished toy is about 29 cm tall.

• 9-10 mm safety eyes

If you are using joints, stuff the legs as firmly as possible as you crochet. Insert the joint between rounds 19 and 20. The cotter pin stem should come out on the inner side of the toy's leg.

If the legs will be crocheted in, firmly stuff only the beginning of the legs. After round 21, crochet 6 sc through both layers.

Body

The stitch marker runs straight along the back, perpendicular upward. If needed, crochet 1-2 more sc and align the beginning of the round (shift stitch).

If the legs will be crocheted in, make sure the marker runs straight along the back of the body, centered on the back, without shifting. If needed, crochet 1-2 more sc and reposition the marker.

If you are going to crochet the head in, start after this round. Work the head pattern from round 5 onward. In that case, remember that the eyes should be inserted in rounds 14-15. The head can also be sewn on without using joints.

Stuff as firmly as possible and insert the joint. Continue crocheting decreases until the base of the joint is closed.

To make a girl bear (in a dress or skirt), after round 15 change from the body color to the clothing color and crochet:

Then continue following the pattern. To crochet the skirt in round 17, work 3 hdc into one stitch through the front loop. Work one more hdc round. Then edge it with one more round of simple sc.

Place the head onto the joint stem in the very center of the crochet piece and snap it closed. Stuff firmly as you crochet.

When using a joint or crocheting the head in, the beginning of the round is at the bottom of the head. When sewing it on, it is the opposite. Because of this, watch carefully which round you insert the eyes in.

To make the muzzle dimensional, crochet one more round of 24 sc and add stuffing while sewing it to the head.

Embroider the nose on the muzzle with the same yarn used for the hat. Use regular stitches from bottom to top or from top to bottom, working several layers for volume.

For convenience, first embroider two guide lines so you know what size the nose will be. Do not make it too large.

Ears and Tail

Stuff with fiberfill and sew to the tip of the hat.

Scarf

For the scarf, make a chain of 60 ch. Starting from the second chain from the hook, crochet several (3-5) rows back and forth. Start the following rows with a turning chain.

Choose the scarf length to match the size of your toy. The more chain stitches you make, the longer the scarf will be.

Toy Assembly

• Sew the muzzle just under the eyes (do not stuff it).
• Sew the ears between rounds 16 and 22 of the head (the beginning of the round is at the bottom).
• Sew the tail approximately between rounds 8 and 10 of the body.
• Embroider small seams on the forehead, belly, and along the sides of the arms and legs. For this, use black sewing thread in 4-6 strands. I do not recommend using thread that is too thick.
• Sew the hat to the side of the head.
• Sew a decorative button to the scarf.
