Amigurumi crochet dog cup coaster

Free Dog Cup Coaster crochet pattern by Irina Koreneva @club141272303.

Using this pattern, you can crochet a dog-shaped cup coaster. To make this amigurumi project, you will need Alize Softy yarn in two colors. The designer offers two dog variations with different ears. You can also add a bow if you like. For the face, you will need a large plastic safety nose and safety eyes. The dog's body is flat; only the head is stuffed.

Amigurumi crochet dog cup coaster pattern

The idea of crocheting toy-shaped cup coasters is, of course, not mine. Inspired by photos I found online, I decided to write my own short pattern for these wonderful dog-shaped cup coasters.

Head

Begin at the muzzle using white (cream) yarn:

Round 1: 6 sc into an MR
Round 2: 2 sc in each stitch (12)
Round 3: (1 sc, inc) x 6 (18)
Round 4: (2 sc, inc) x 6 (24)
Round 5: (3 sc, inc) x 6 (30)
Switch to beige yarn:
Round 6: (4 sc, inc) x 6 (36)
Round 7: (5 sc, inc) x 6 (42)
Rounds 8–9: sc in each stitch (42)
Round 10: (5 sc, dec) x 6 (36)
Round 11: (4 sc, dec) x 6 (30)
Round 12: (3 sc, dec) x 6 (24)
Round 13: (2 sc, dec) x 6 (18)
Stuff the head lightly so that it forms a flattened ball.
Round 14: (1 sc, dec) x 6 (12)
Round 15: 6 dec (6)

Fasten off and cinch the opening closed. Leave a long yarn tail for sewing the head to the body.

Use white (cream) yarn:

Round 1: 6 sc into an MR
Round 2: 2 sc in each stitch (12)
Round 3: (1 sc, inc) x 6 (18)
Round 4: (2 sc, inc) x 6 (24)
Round 5: (3 sc, inc) x 6 (30)

Fasten off and cut the yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing the piece to the head.

Row 2: turn, ch 1: 5 inc (10)

Fasten off and cut the yarn, leaving a tail for sewing the patches to the legs.

Assembly

Assembling the amigurumi crochet dog cup coaster

  1. Add fiberfill to the upper muzzle piece and sew it slightly below the center of the head. Shape an indentation down the center of the muzzle to divide it in half. Bring the yarn out through the back of the head, insert it back into the same opening, pull the yarn tight, and slightly indent the muzzle.
  2. Fold the lower piece in half and sew it underneath the muzzle to form the jaw.
  3. Sew on the ears in whichever position you prefer. You can attach them closer to the top of the head so they stick up slightly, or lower down so they hang like a spaniel's ears.
  4. Sew the patches to the legs: the circles go on the hind legs and the semicircles on the front legs. Embroider paw pads on the hind legs with pink yarn and toes on the front legs with black yarn.
  5. Sew the head to the coaster body.
  6. Glue on the nose and eyes. Embroider the eyelids and eyebrows. Add whiskers with seed beads, then shade the eyelids and the folds around the mouth. Tie on a bow. Your dog coaster is ready!
