Ear (for the Bear)

With beige yarn.

First piece (make 2)

Rnd 1. 6 sc in MR (6)
Make a chain stitch and turn your work:
Rnd 2. inc x 6 (12)

Fasten off and cut the yarn.

Second piece: (make 2)

Crochet the same way as the first piece, but with brown yarn and do NOT cut the yarn. Place the first piece against it, crochet an increase through the stitches of both pieces, then 1 sc, inc, 1 sc, inc, and continue crocheting around with regular single crochet stitches. Make a sl st, fasten off, and leave a yarn tail for sewing.

Assembly and Finishing

  • Make the eye tightening
  • Sew on the muzzle and embroider the nose
  • Embroider the whites around the eyes, then embroider the eyebrows and other details with black thread
  • Sew on the arms
  • Sew on the ears (the bear's ears are placed between rounds 10 and 14; the bunny's ears are placed between rounds 8 and 9)
  • Sew on the tail

Next, make the edging. For the bear, work 1 sc into each stitch through the remaining front loops, then make a sl st at the end of the round, fasten off, and hide the yarn tail. For the bunny, work 2 dc into each stitch through the remaining front loops, then make a sl st at the end of the round, fasten off, and hide the yarn tail. Try the hat on your toy and crochet as many rounds as needed, making ear openings where necessary, because the placement may not match if the ears were sewn on at a different distance.

I am sharing the way I crocheted this hat for the bunny. Use the same principle to crochet the bear's hat. Remember to try the hat on the head and adjust the number of stitches if needed.

Hat

Crochet every row in back loops only.

Row 1. Ch 35, starting from the second chain from the hook, crochet 34 sc
Row 2-14. (15 rows) (34)
Row 15. 17 sc, ch 6 and skip 6 sc on the fabric, 11 sc (34)
Row 16. 11 sc, 6 sc along the chains, 17 sc (34)
Row 17-26. (10 rows) (34)
Row 27. 17 sc, ch 6 and skip 6 sc on the fabric, 11 sc (34)
Row 28. 11 sc, 6 sc along the chains, 17 sc (34)
Row 29-60. (32 rows) (34)

Crochet amigurumi hat

Fasten off, leaving a long yarn tail for sewing.

Next, sew the hat and then start cinching the top closed. Cinch it until the opening is closed. Make a pom-pom and attach it to the hat. The toys are ready!
