Leg

3: 3 sc, inc, 2 sc (7)
4: 7 sc (7)
5: 3 sc, inc, 3 sc (8)
6: 8 sc (8)
7: 3 sc, inc, 4 sc (9)
8-10: 9 sc (9), 3 rounds
11: 3 sc, inc, 5 sc (10)
12-13: 10 sc (10), 2 rounds

For the right leg, crochet 6 sc, fasten off, and cut the yarn.

Crochet the left leg the same way as the right one, but after round 13, crochet 4 sc and do not fasten off or cut the yarn. Continue crocheting:

Chain 7, join the work to the right leg by crocheting 10 sc around it.

Next, crochet 7 sc along the chain stitches and another 6 sc around the left leg. Place a marker and continue crocheting the body. Stuff as you go.

Body and Head

14: 4 sc, inc, 5 sc, inc, 10 sc, inc, 5 sc, inc, 6 sc (38)
15: 23 sc, inc, sc, inc, 3 sc, inc, sc, inc, 6 sc (42)
16: (6 sc, inc) x 6 (48)
17-26: 48 sc (48)

If you are making the sweater, change yarn in round 20 and crochet a jacquard pattern if desired. Important! As you finish the last round, make sure the marker is exactly at the side of the body. Fold the work in half and, if needed, crochet the missing sc stitches to reach the center of the body. For me, this was 2 sc. The marker shifted.
