Tiger Cub

A free Tiger Cub crochet pattern by Ekaterina Pirova @pirovashki.

Follow this pattern to crochet a plush tiger cub with a scarf. You can use any plush yarn for this amigurumi project, including Himalaya Dolphin Baby, YarnArt Dolce, and similar yarns.

The finished toy is approximately 6.3 inches (16 cm) tall.

Materials and tools

• Plush yarn: orange (less than half a skein), white, and black
• Yarn for the scarf
• 3.5 mm crochet hook
• 8 mm safety eyes
• Toy stuffing
• Needle for sewing the pieces together
• Scissors

Crochet amigurumi tiger cub pattern

Arms (make 2)

1: 7 sc in MR
2-8: 7 sc

Fold the piece and work 3 sc through both sides. Fasten off and cut the yarn. The arms will be crocheted into the body later.

Tail

1: 5 sc in MR
2-11: 5 sc

Fold the piece and work 2 sc through both sides. Fasten off and cut the yarn. The tail will be crocheted into the body later.

Ears (make 2)

Work 5 sc in MR and pull the ring tight, but do not join. Turn the piece and work 5 inc.

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Muzzle

1: 6 sc in MR
2: 6 inc (12 sc)
3: (1 sc, inc) x 6 (18 sc)

Leave a long tail for sewing.

Legs, body, and head

1: 5 sc in MR
2: 5 inc (10 sc)
3-6: 10 sc

Make two pieces. Fasten off and cut the yarn on the first leg. Do not cut the yarn on the second leg; continue crocheting. Work 2 ch and join the legs.

7: 10 sc around the first leg, 2 sc across the ch, 10 sc around the second leg, 2 sc across the other side of the ch (24 sc)
8: (5 sc, inc) x 4 (28 sc)
9-10: 28 sc
11: Crochet in the tail: 26 sc, 2 sc through the tail (28 sc). The tail should be centered at the back, so adjust the stitch placement if necessary.
12-13: 28 sc

15-16: 24 sc
17: Crochet in the arms, working offset stitches if necessary. The arms should sit evenly on the sides: 4 sc, 3 sc through the first arm, 9 sc, 3 sc through the second arm, 5 sc (24 sc)

Finishing and assembly

Here is how I finished my tiger cub, but feel free to adjust the details to suit yours.

• Sew the muzzle between rounds 21 and 24, stuffing it lightly before closing.
• Insert the eyes between rounds 24 and 25, 3-4 stitches apart.
• Once the eyes are in place, make the nose. First, embroider a nose with pink cotton yarn around the second round of the muzzle, adjusting the placement as you like. Then use orange yarn to embroider the bridge of the nose from the eyes down to the pink nose.
• Sew the ears between rounds 26 and 29.
• Embroider stripes in any pattern you like. I use plush yarn for mine.
• Embroider the eyebrows.

Scarf

Ch 46. Starting in the third ch from the hook, work 44 dc.

Pom-poms (make 2)

7: 6 sc
2: 6 inc (12 sc)
3: 12 sc
4: 6 dec

Stuff the pom-poms and sew them to the scarf as shown in the photo.
