Superheroes: Batman and Superman

Free crochet tutorial for Superheroes: Batman and Superman by Marina @maryland.crochet.

With this pattern, you can crochet Batman and Superman. Any plush yarn will work for the amigurumi: Himalaya Dolphin Baby, YarnArt Dolce, and similar yarns.

The finished toys are about 26 cm tall.

Batman:

• Plush yarn Dolphin Baby 80353 or 80342 (Dolce 771), 10 g
• Plush yarn Dolphin Baby 80311 (Dolce 742), 55 g

• Plush yarn Dolphin Baby 80320 or light gray 80351 (Dolce 760 or light gray 782), 50 g

Superman:

• Plush yarn Dolphin Baby 80353 or 80342 (Dolce 771), 15 g

Batman Crochet Pattern

Batman Arms

Start with black.

Make a chain of 2 ch.
Round 1: 7 sc in the second ch from the hook
Round 2: 7 inc (14)
Rounds 3-4: 14 sc
Change to gray.
Rounds 5-7: 14 sc (3 rounds)
Round 8: dec, 12 sc (13)
Round 9: dec, 11 sc (12)
Rounds 10-14: 12 sc (5 rounds)
Round 15: 6 dec (6)

Leave a yarn tail. Close the opening with a needle.

Batman Legs and Body

Crochet two legs. Start with black. Crochet the shoes.

Make a chain of 2 ch.
Round 1: 8 sc in the second ch from the hook.
Round 2: 8 inc (16)
Round 3: 16 sc in the back loops only.
Rounds 4-5: 16 sc.

Change to gray. Crochet the suit.
Rounds 6-9: 16 sc (4 rounds).

Change to black. Crochet the shorts.
Round 10 for the first leg: 16 sc, sl st. Cut the yarn.
Round 10 for the second leg: 16 sc + 2 sc. Do not cut the yarn.

Join the legs: from the second leg, crochet 3 ch.

Find the sl st on the first leg and the 16th sc under it in round 9. Insert the hook UNDER THE SL ST into the 16th sc of round 9 and work a sl st.

Continue:
1 sc, (inc, 3 sc) x 3, inc, 2 sc. Along one side of the chain: sl st, inc, sl st. sl st, (inc, 3 sc) x 3, inc, 2 sc. Along the other side of the chain: sl st, inc, sl st. Mark the end of the round with a marker.

Rounds 11-12: 48 sc (2 rounds)

Change to yellow. Crochet the belt.

Change to the body color.

Cut the yarn and weave in the end. Stuff firmly.

Cape

Make a chain of 11 ch.
Row 1: Starting in the second ch from the hook, work 10 sc through both loops to the end.
Row 2: ch, turn, inc, 8 sc, inc
Row 3: ch, turn, 12 sc.
Row 4: ch, turn, inc, 10 sc, inc
Rows 5-9: ch, turn, 14 sc.
Row 10: ch, turn, inc, 12 sc, inc
Rows 11-13: ch, turn, 14 sc

Cut the yarn. Start edging around the piece from the first row, moving down the left side (12 sc). In the corner, work (sc, ch, sc), crochet along the bottom (15 sc), in the corner work (sc, ch, sc), then go up the right side (13 sc). Do not edge the top. Leave a yarn tail. Sew to the stitches of round 27.

Sew the head to the body. Sew on the arms.

Batman Ears

Crochet with black.

Make a chain of 2 ch.
Round 1: 5 sc in the second ch from the hook.
Round 2: 5 sc, inc (7)
Round 3: 6 sc, inc (8)
Round 4: 7 sc, inc (9)
Round 5: 8 sc, inc (10)
Round 6: 10 sc.
Round 7: 9 sc, inc (11)
Round 8: 10 sc, inc (12)
Round 9: 11 sc, inc (13)
Round 10: 12 sc, inc (14)

Crochet 7 more sc, fold the piece, and crochet both sides together (7 sc). Leave a yarn tail for sewing.

Sew on the ears. Embroider the nose. The nose is 6-7 sc wide. Do not pull the yarn too tight. Bring the yarn end out under an ear, fasten off, and cut it.

Crocheted Batman Logo

Use a 2 mm crochet hook. Crochet a yellow oval.

Make a chain of 12 ch.
Round 1: inc in the second ch from the hook, 9 sc along one side, work 3 sc into the last ch (that is, 2 sc along one side of the chain and 1 sc along the other), 9 sc along the other side, work 1 sc into the last half-loop.

Round 2: 2 inc, 9 sc, 3 inc, 9 sc, 1 inc. In the next round, work inc + 1 sc into each increase of the previous round.

Round 3: inc, 1 sc, inc, 1 sc, 9 sc, inc, 1 sc, inc, 1 sc, inc, 1 sc, 9 sc, inc, 1 sc + sl st.

Leave 20-30 cm of yarn.

Bat

Crochet the bat with black yarn.

Crochet with single crochet stitches. Make a chain of 13 ch. Starting in the second ch from the hook, work 2 sc, skip 2 ch on the chain, 2 sc, chain 2, work 2 more sc along the chain, skip 2 ch on the chain again, 2 sc.

Finish crocheting. You will get a zigzag. Sew the bat to the oval. Sew the emblem to the body.

Felt Eyes

Cut them out of white felt. You can quickly singe the edges of the pieces and glue them on. If desired, you can cut the emblem out of felt as well: a yellow oval and a black bat. Glue the pieces together, then glue the emblem on.

Superman Crochet Pattern

Superman Arms

Rounds 1-4: body color.
Rounds 5-15: blue suit.

Superman Legs and Body

Rounds 1-5: red shoes.
Rounds 6-9: blue suit.
Rounds 10-14: red shorts.
Then crochet a belt to the desired width.
Rounds 15-16: yellow belt.
Rounds 17-29: blue suit.

Superman Ears

Crochet with the body color. Work 6 sc into a magic ring. Do not tighten it too much. Leave yarn tails for sewing. Sew the ears parallel to the eyes and arms.

Superman Head

Crochet the entire head with the body color. Place the eyes between rounds 9 and 10. Embroider the nose: 5-6 stitches, 4 sc wide.

Superman Hair

Crochet with black.

Make a chain of 2 ch.
Round 1: 8 sc in the second ch from the hook.
Round 2: 8 inc (16)

Crochet the curl right away:

sl st, 5 ch - go back down starting in the second ch from the hook: 3 sc in 1 stitch, 3 inc, sl st into the main round. Turn the piece inside out and sew it on.

Cape

• Crochet entirely with red yarn.
• No changes.
• Sew on the head.
• Sew on the arms.
• Cut the emblem out of felt and glue it on.
