Spring Bunny

Free crochet pattern for Spring Bunny by Snezhana Isakina @snezhinka_toys.

With this tutorial, you can crochet a bunny in a dress and beret. Any cotton blend yarn will work for this amigurumi: YarnArt Jeans, Alize Cotton Gold, Gazzal Baby Cotton, and others.

Finished toy size: about 30 cm.

Materials and Tools

• YarnArt Jeans yarn: beige 07 (1 skein), light green 60 (a little more than half a skein), lilac 72 (a little more than half a skein)
• 2 mm crochet hook
• 10 mm safety eyes
• White felt (for the eyes)
• Cotton thread for embroidering the nose and mouth
• Toy stuffing
• Needle for sewing pieces together
• Scissors

Shaping the Face

In round 15, insert the eyes into the openings. I cut the whites of the eyes from felt, but this is optional. Make the face shaping (as shown in the photo) for the eyes and mouth. Embroider the eyebrows, eyelashes, and nose. You can also glue on false eyelashes; basically, do whatever works best for you.

Arms (Make 2)

Stuff as you crochet (about every 5 rounds). Do not stuff too firmly, so the arms do not stick out.

Fold in half and crochet 4 turning rows of 5 sc each. Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing the ear to the head.

Legs + Body

Start with the legs. Crochet in lilac (boot color).

Chain 7 + 1 turning chain.
Rnd 1. Make an increase in the 2nd chain from the hook, then 5 sc, 4 sc in the last chain. Continue on the other side of the chain: 5 sc, inc = 18
Rnd 2. 2 inc, 5 sc, 4 inc, 5 sc, 2 inc = 26

Rnd 4. Crochet 26 sc through the back loops only.

Change to the body color. Do not cut the lilac yarn; leave it outside the leg. You will use it later to finish the boot.

Boot

Continue with the lilac yarn in round 6, working through the front loops only. Crochet 18 sc for 5 rounds. Crochet the second leg the same way.

Join the legs: on the second leg, crochet 4 offset stitches (so the hook is in the middle of the inner side of the leg). Make 3 ch, join to the first leg with sc, and place a marker. Crochet 21 sc around one leg, 3 sc along the chain, 21 sc around the other leg, and 3 sc along the other side of the chain. = 48

Body

Start the body. Change to the dress color (light green).

Dress

Turn the body upside down. In round 22 of the body, join the light green yarn (dress color) and crochet 2 ch, 1 dc into the same base, then work dc increases to the end of the round. Then crochet sl st, 2 tch, and 1 dc in each stitch to the end of the round. Crochet 14 rounds this way.

Bow for the Dress

With lilac yarn, chain 15 + 1 tch. Work along the chain, starting from the 2nd chain from the hook: 15 sc, turn, 1 tch, and continue this way for 10 rows. Crochet around the bow with light green yarn in sc.

Crochet the center: chain 4, starting from the 2nd chain from the hook crochet 3 sc, turn, 1 tch, and continue for 4-5 rows. Finish crocheting. Sew the bow in the middle, as shown in the photo.

Beret

Assembly

• Sew the bow onto the dress.
• Sew the arms to the body with thread joints.
• Sew the ears to the head.
• Sew the head to the neck.
• You can also crochet a bow for the beret, similar to the bow on the dress, but smaller.
• Put the beret on our bunny's head.
