Sonya the Cat

Free crochet tutorial for Sonya the Cat by Vera Kravchenko @kravchenko_toys.
Using this pattern, you can crochet a sleeping kitty in a nightcap. The tutorial also includes a crochet pattern for a small bunny toy and bunny slippers. Any cotton blend yarn will work for this amigurumi: YarnArt Jeans, Alize Cotton Gold, Gazzal Baby Cotton, and others.
Materials and Tools

- 2 mm crochet hook
- Toy stuffing
- Pins

- 4 black beads and 2 pink beads
- 7 mm sew-on snap button (optional)

Stuff the legs as you crochet.

On the first leg, fasten off and cut the yarn. Join the first leg to the second leg and continue crocheting.

Fasten off and use a needle to hide the yarn tail between the stitches. Join pink yarn and crochet a crab stitch edging around the edge. Make a tassel: cut the yarn into 12 equal pieces, about 8 cm long. Tie them together in the middle with a strand of yarn, fold them in half, and tie the tassel at the top. Attach it to the nightcap.

Crochet the Ears (make 4)
Chain 8. Starting from the second chain from the hook, crochet:
5 sc, 1 hdc, 4 dc in the last stitch, crochet along the other side: 1 hdc, 5 sc.
Finish crocheting, sew the ear in half at the base, and sew it to round 8. Sew on the beads (eyes and nose).

Fasten off and sew the ear in half.
Large ear
Chain 11. Starting from the second chain from the hook, crochet: 8 sc, 1 hdc, 4 dc in the last stitch, crochet along the other side: 1 hdc, 8 sc.
Fasten off and sew the ear in half. Sew the ears to the top of the head.
Paws (make 2)
Chain 6. Starting from the second chain from the hook, crochet: 3 sc, 1 hdc, 4 dc in the last stitch, crochet along the other side: 1 hdc, 3 sc.
Fasten off and sew the paw in half. Sew the paws under the neck.
Legs (make 2)

Pull the opening closed, fasten off, and hide the yarn tail. Attach the legs with thread joints.
Tail

Pull the opening closed, fasten off, and hide the yarn tail. Sew on the tail. Sew the snap button to the right paw.
Assembly and Finishing
- Sew the arms to the body one round below the ruffles, with the button on the left arm.
- Sew on the button.
- Sew the tail under the skirt on round 6 of the body.
- Sew on the head.
- Sew the ears to the head between rounds 5 and 12.
- Use pins to mark where the eyes will go. Embroider the eyes between rounds 11 and 14, 5 stitches apart. Leave 1-2 stitches between the eyes.
- Embroider the eyelashes, using the photo as a guide.
- Sew on the nightcap, shape it as desired, and secure the tip to the head with a few stitches so it does not stick out.
- Put on the slippers.
