Snake

Free crochet tutorial for Snake by Elena Lapekhina @lapekhinaelena.

Using this pattern, you can crochet a plush snake. Any plush yarn will work for this amigurumi: Himalaya Dolphin Baby, YarnArt Dolce, and others. You can make the snake in one solid color or in several colors, alternating different yarn shades as you like.

The finished toy measures about 190 cm.

Materials and Tools

• Himalaya Dolphin Baby plush yarn (turquoise, 3 skeins)
• Gazzal Baby Cotton yarn (dark gray)
• 3.5-4 mm crochet hook (for the snake) and 2 mm hook (for the tongue)
• 8-10 mm safety eyes
• Toy stuffing
• Needle for sewing pieces
• Scissors

• MR - magic ring
• ch - chain stitch
• sl st - slip stitch
• sc - single crochet
• inc - increase
• dec - decrease
• (...) x n - repeat n times

Amigurumi Plush Crochet Snake Pattern

Head

Stuff as you crochet, but not too firmly.

Round 1: 6 ch, sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, 3 sc, 3 sc in the last ch, working along the other side: 3 sc, inc (12)
Round 2: inc, 3 sc, 3 inc, 3 sc, 2 inc (18)
Round 3: inc, 6 sc, 3 inc, 6 sc, 2 inc (24)
Rounds 4-6: 24 sc (24)
Round 7: 2 inc, 8 sc, 2 inc, 12 sc (28)
The eyes will be placed between the increases later.
Round 8: (sc, inc) x 2, 8 sc, (sc, inc) x 2, 12 sc (32)
Rounds 9-14: 32 sc (32)
Round 15: 2 sc, 2 dec, 12 sc, 2 dec, 10 sc (28)
Round 16: 2 sc, 2 dec, 8 sc, 2 dec, 10 sc (24)

Body

Stuff as you crochet, lightly (the firmer you stuff it, the less flexible the body will be).

Rounds 17-190: 24 sc (24)

Tail

Round 191: dec, 22 sc (23)
Round 192: dec, 21 sc (22)
Round 193: dec, 20 sc (21)
Continue making decreases at the beginning of each round.
Round 110: dec, 3 sc (4), cut and fasten off the yarn.

Tongue

16 ch, starting in the 2nd ch from the hook work 5 sl st, 6 ch, starting in the 2nd ch from the hook work 5 sl st, then work 10 sl st along the remaining ch of the chain. Cut the yarn, leaving a tail for sewing on the tongue and embroidering the mouth line.

Head Finishing

• Mark the points for sewing on the tongue (1 and 2), embroidering the mouth (3, 4), and attaching the eyes (5)
• Sew on the tongue and eyes, then embroider the mouth.
