Sleeping Fox

Free Sleeping Fox crochet tutorial by Yana Emets @plyusha32.

With this pattern, you can crochet a sleeping plush fox. The head, body, and tail are crocheted as one piece; only the paws and ears are sewn on. Yarn usage: less than half a skein of orange and just a little white.

Finished toy size is about 20 cm (from nose to tail tip).

Materials and Tools

• Himalaya Dolphin Baby or YarnArt Dolce yarn in two colors
• 3.5-4.0 mm crochet hook
• 8 mm bead or half-bead for the nose
• Black thread for embroidering the eyes
• Synthetic poly filling
• Needle
• Scissors

Head-Body-Tail

Crochet as one piece. Stuff as you go.

Start with white yarn:

1: 4 sc in MR (4)

3: (1 sc, inc) x 4 (12)
At the end of the round, change to orange yarn. Place a stitch marker and keep it always centered. If needed, crochet one extra sc and move the marker.
4: 3 sc, 6 inc, 3 sc (18)

7: 24 sc

9-10: 30 sc (2 rounds)

Keep an eye on the marker; if needed, crochet 1-2 sc and shift the marker back to center.

Front Paws (2 pieces)

Start with white yarn:

1: 5 sc in MR (5)
2-5: 5 sc (4 rounds)
At the end of the round, change to orange yarn:

Fasten off at the end.

Back Paws (2 pieces)

Start with white yarn:

1: 5 sc in MR (5)
2-3: 5 sc (2 rounds)
At the end of the round, change to orange yarn:
4: 1 inc, 4 sc (6)
5-6: 6 sc (2 rounds)

Fasten off at the end.

Ears (2 pieces)

Use orange yarn:

2 ch. In the second chain from the hook, crochet: 1 sc, 1 ch, 1 dc, 1 ch, 1 sc, 1 sl st.

Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Assembly

• Sew the ears onto round 9 with 8 sc between them.
• Sew on the paws.
• Sew on the bead nose.
• Embroider the eyes.
• You can tack the paws under the muzzle with a couple of stitches to give the fox a comfy sleeping pose.
