Sleeping Bunny

Free crochet tutorial for Sleeping Bunny by Yana Emets @plyusha32.

With this pattern, you can crochet a plush sleeping bunny. For this amigurumi, any plush yarn / velvet yarn and a suitable hook will work. Yarn usage is small: less than half a skein of gray and a little white.

The finished toy size is about 16 cm.

Materials and tools

• Himalaya Dolphin Baby or YarnArt Dolce yarn in two colors
• 3.5-4.0 mm crochet hook
• 8 mm bead or half bead for the nose
• Black thread for embroidering the eyes
• Toy stuffing
• Needle
• Scissors

Sleeping Bunny Amigurumi Crochet Pattern

Important! While crocheting, use a marker thread and make sure it runs exactly through the middle of the body. If needed, crochet an extra 1-2 sc to shift the marker.

Head-body

Work as one piece. Start with white yarn:

1: 6 sc in MR (6)
2: (inc) x 6 (12)
3: 12 sc
At the end of the round, change to gray yarn:
4: 3 sc, 6 inc, 3 sc (18)
5: 3 sc, (1 sc, inc) x 6, 3 sc (24)
6: (3 sc, inc) x 6 (30)
7-9: 30 sc (3 rounds)
10: (3 sc, dec) x 6 (24)
If the marker shifts, crochet an extra 1-2 sc.
11: 3 sc, (1 sc, dec) x 6, 3 sc (18)

Front legs (2 pieces)

Start with white yarn:

1: 5 sc in MR (5)
2-5: 5 sc (4 rounds)
At the end of the round, change to gray yarn:

7-12: 6 sc (6 rounds)

Fasten off the yarn at the end.

Back legs (2 pieces)

Start with white yarn:

1: 5 sc in MR (5)
2-3: 5 sc (2 rounds)
At the end of the round, change to gray yarn:
4: 1 inc, 4 sc (6)
5-6: 6 sc (2 rounds)

Fasten off the yarn at the end.

Ears (2 pieces)

Use gray yarn:

Chain 13. Starting in the second chain from the hook: 4 sl st, 3 sc, 3 hdc, 1 sc, 3 sc in one stitch.
Turn the work and crochet along the other side of the chain through the remaining half loops: 1 sc, 3 hdc, 3 sc, 5 sl st
Fasten off the yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Tail

Use white yarn:

1: 5 sc in MR (5)
2: (inc) x 5 (10)
3: (dec) x 5 (5)

Fasten off the yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Toy assembly

• Sew the ears to round 9 with 4 sc between them.
• Sew on the legs and tail.
• Sew on the bead nose.
• Embroider the eyes.
• Tack the legs together with a couple of stitches under the muzzle to give the bunny a comfortable sleeping pose.
