Seagull

Free Seagull crochet tutorial by @stelmah_alexandra.

With this pattern, you can crochet a seagull wearing a hat. For this amigurumi project, you will need cotton blend yarn and a matching crochet hook. The bandana is crocheted separately and is removable. Embroider the eyes with embroidery floss or any other fine yarn.

Materials and Tools

• YarnArt Jeans yarn: white, mustard, cream, and any color for the bandana
• Black embroidery floss
• 2 mm crochet hook
• 8 mm safety eyes
• Toy stuffing
• Stitch markers
• Pins
• Needle for sewing pieces together
• Scissors

Body

Rnd 1: 6 sc in MR
Rnd 2: 6 inc = 12
Rnd 3: (1 sc, inc) x 6 = 18
Rnd 4: (1 sc, inc, 1 sc) x 6 = 24
Rnd 5: (3 sc, inc) x 6 = 30
Rnd 6: (2 sc, inc, 2 sc) x 6 = 36
Rnd 7: (5 sc, inc) x 6 = 42
Rnd 8: (3 sc, inc, 3 sc) x 6 = 48
Rnd 9: (7 sc, inc) x 6 = 54
Rnds 10-14: 54 sc (5 rounds)
Rnd 15: Ch 1, fold the piece in half and work 10 sc through both layers, then continue working 36 sc in the round. Stuff the tail firmly.
Rnds 16-21: 36 sc (6 rounds)
Rnd 22: (2 sc, dec, 2 sc) x 6 = 30, stuff
Rnd 23: (3 sc, dec) x 6 = 24
Rnd 24: (1 sc, dec, 1 sc) x 6 = 18
Rnd 25: (1 sc, dec) x 6 = 12, stuff
Rnd 26: 6 dec. Close the opening and weave the yarn end into the seagull's body.

Wing (make 2)

Rnd 1: 6 sc in MR
Rnd 2: 6 inc = 12
Rnd 3: (1 sc, inc) x 6 = 18
Rnd 4: 18 sc
Rnd 5: (dec, 7 sc) x 2 = 16
Rnd 6: (dec, 6 sc) x 2 = 14
Rnd 7: (dec, 5 sc) x 2 = 12
Rnd 8: (dec, 4 sc) x 2 = 10
Rnd 9: (dec, 3 sc) x 2 = 8
Rnd 10: (dec, 2 sc) x 2 = 6
Rnd 11: (dec, 1 sc) x 2 = 4. Close the opening and bring the yarn out through one side so you can use it later to sew the wing to the body.

Make the second wing the same way.

Beak

Rnd 1: 5 sc in MR
Rnd 2: 5 sc. Leave a long tail for sewing.

Leg (make 2)

Work in turning rows.

Row 1: Ch 6, starting in the second chain from the hook, work 5 sc, turn
Row 2: Skip the first stitch, 4 sc, turn
Row 3: Skip the first stitch, 3 sc, turn
Row 4: 3 sc, turn
Row 5: Skip the first stitch, 2 sc, turn
Row 6: Skip the first stitch, 1 sc, ch 12

Leave a long tail for sewing. Make the second leg the same way.

Assembly

Pin the wings and beak in place, check that they are symmetrical, and sew them on using the yarn tails you left.

Sew on the legs as well.

Embroider the eyes, pin the bandana in place, and sew it on using the yarn tail.
