Crochet sea turtle

Free Sea Turtle crochet tutorial by Evgeniya Gorbacheva @igrushka_hm.

With this pattern, you can crochet a small sea turtle. Any plush yarn and a matching crochet hook will work well for this amigurumi project. If you use Himalaya Dolphin Fine, the finished toy will be about palm-sized. If you use the thicker Himalaya Dolphin Baby yarn, it will turn out larger.

Materials and tools

  • Dolphin Fine yarn in gray (or any other color for the body), about 20 grams
  • Dolphin Fine yarn in lilac (or any other color for the shell), about 30 grams
  • 3 mm crochet hook
  • Safety eyes, 4-7 mm, size of your choice (everyone's turtle turns out a little different)
  • Embroidery floss in graphite for embroidering the eyebrows, mouth line, and nostrils
  • Toy stuffing
  • Needle for embroidering the stripes on the shell, eyebrows, nose, and mouth
  • Scissors

Assembly

  • Join the 2 pieces together (the belly and the shell). Crochet 26 stitches around through both the shell and the belly (I use the crab stitch for this edging). Do not forget to add stuffing.
  • Embroider the shell if desired and secure the head in place with just 3-4 stitches to the shell.
  • Embroider the eyebrows, nostrils, and mouth
