Rainbow boa crochet

Free crochet tutorial for the Rainbow Boa by Yulia Orlova.

With this pattern, you can crochet a striped plush snake. You can use any yarn in any colors, including leftovers. The toy is crocheted as one piece. Only the lip is sewn on.

With average tension and a 4 mm crochet hook, the finished toy is about 140 cm long.

Materials and Tools

  • Any plush yarn. Main color (for the head and tail) - less than half a skein, plus leftovers in different colors.
  • A small amount of black yarn for the eyebrows - YarnArt Jeans or a similar yarn
  • Thin cotton yarn or embroidery floss matching the head color for eye sculpting
  • 4.0-4.5 mm crochet hook
  • 12-14 mm safety eyes
  • Toy stuffing
  • Sewing needle
  • Scissors

Head

Start crocheting with the head using the main color yarn, stuffing as you go (stuff the head firmly and the body to medium firmness):

1: ch 8, starting in the second chain from the hook: inc, 5 sc, 4 sc in the last chain, continue on the other side of the chain: 5 sc, inc.
2: 2 inc, 5 sc, 4 inc, 5 sc, 2 inc (26)

Muzzle Shaping

Sculpt the eyes using the photo as a guide. Insert the needle into point 1 at the bottom of the head in the center of round 8, bring it out at point 3, insert it at point 4, and bring it out at point 2. Pull tight. Insert at point 1 again, bring it out at point 5, insert it at point 6, and bring it out at point 2. Tighten so the eyes sink evenly. Hide the yarn tails inside the toy.

Sew on the lip: place the edge of the lip against the round where the sculpting was made. Sew it up to the middle.

Embroider the eyebrows.
