If you use screw safety eyes, install them between rounds 17 and 18, with 7-8 sc between them. But this is up to you, you can place them closer or farther apart.

Round 23: (7 sc, dec) x 8 (64)
Round 24: (6 sc, dec) x 8 (56)
Round 25: (5 sc, dec) x 8 (48)
Round 26: (4 sc, dec) x 8 (40)
Round 27: (3 sc, dec) x 8 (32), sl st

Leave a long tail to shape the pumpkin itself (the segments). Stuff the piece. Next comes sculpting: pull the loops through the front loops only. Tighten carefully and slowly so the thread does not break. For convenience, you can keep sculpting to the desired depth and then tighten the piece. The first segment runs between the eyes.

The hat should also be lightly stuffed so it keeps its shape better. With green yarn, crochet 1 or 2 cords (a chain of chain stitches) or a twisted cord, whichever you prefer. Tie it around the hat.

Stuff the foot, fold the piece, and crochet through both loops. Leave a tail on one leg for sewing.

Toy assembly

Since the eyes are already installed during the process, sew on the nose next. I placed it between the eyes, slightly lower. Then sew on the hat and legs; you choose their placement yourself. Always do a fitting first using pins. After everything is sewn, embroider the face (eyelids as shown in the photo, eyebrows if desired, and a mouth). You can also add light shading around the eyes.
