Plush Kitten

Free crochet tutorial for the Kitten by Yulia Deynega @deynega_yuly.

With this pattern, you can crochet a plush cat. Any plush yarn works for this amigurumi. Yarn needed for one toy is less than one full skein of Himalaya Dolphin Baby.

Finished toy height is about 30 cm.

Materials and tools

• Himalaya Dolphin Baby plush yarn (for the kitten)
• YarnArt Jeans yarn (for the cardigan)
• 2 mm and 4 mm crochet hooks
• 12-14 mm safety eyes
• Fiberfill
• Button
• Sewing needle for assembling parts
• Scissors

Head

Ch 6. Work on both sides of the chain to form an oval.

Round 1: starting in the 2nd ch from hook: 4 sc, 3 sc in last ch, turn, 3 sc, inc (12)
Round 2: inc, 3 sc, 3 inc, 3 sc, 2 inc (18)
Round 3: (2 sc, inc) x 6 (24)

Stuff only the lower part up to round 4. Fold the piece and crochet 4 sc through both layers. Sew the arms at the head-body seam, with 5 stitches between the arms.

Legs (make 2)

Ch 5. Work on both sides of the chain to form an oval.

Round 1: starting in the 2nd ch from hook: inc, 2 sc, 3 sc in last ch, turn, 3 sc (10)
Round 2: 3 inc, 2 sc, 3 inc, 2 sc (16)
Round 3: (1 sc, inc) x 3, 2 sc, (1 sc, inc) x 3, 2 sc (22)
Rounds 4-5: 22 sc (2 rounds)
Round 6: 3 dec, 2 sc, (1 sc, dec) x 3, 5 sc (16)

Crochet 4 more sc, stuff the leg firmly, then fold the piece and crochet 6 sc through both layers.
Sew the legs between rounds 8 and 9.

Tail

I join the yarn between rounds 6 and 7 of the body, chain 6, then starting in the 2nd ch from hook crochet 5 sc.
The tail is ready, weave in the yarn end.

Ears (make 2)

Ch 4. Work on both sides of the chain to form an oval.

Round 1: starting in the 2nd ch from hook: 2 sc, 3 sc in last ch, turn, 2 sc (7)

The ears are ready. Sew them on.

Cardigan

Ch 37.

Row 1: starting in the 3rd ch from hook, crochet 35 dc
Work in turning rows.
Row 2: ch 2, 4 hdc, inc - repeat to end of row
Row 4: ch 1, 6 sc, ch 8, skip 8 stitches, 14 sc, ch 8, skip 8 stitches, 6 sc
Row 5: ch 1, 42 sc
Row 6: ch 2, 42 hdc
Row 7: ch 2, (5 hdc, inc) to end of row
Row 8: ch 2, 48 hdc
Row 9: ch 2, 48 hdc
Row 10: ch 2, 48 hdc

Single crochet around the fabric, leaving the neckline untouched.

Sleeves

Work the sleeves as follows:

Join yarn to the sleeve opening, ch 2, then work 3 rounds of hdc in the round. You get 8 stitches across the chain-space side and 8 along the lower side. I also add 1 stitch in each corner, and I end up with 18 stitches in each sleeve.

Put the cardigan on the toy and sew the edges.
