Free Chick crochet tutorial by Yana Emets @plyusha32.
With this pattern, you can crochet a large plush chick with a bow. Any plush yarn / velvet yarn and a suitable crochet hook will work for this amigurumi project. The author used Himalaya Dolphin Baby and YarnArt Dolce (they are interchangeable). All parts are worked in a spiral. All parts are sewn on. For decoration, you can crochet a scarf or tie a bow around the neck.
The finished chick toy size is about 22 cm.
Materials and Tools
- Himalaya Dolphin Baby plush yarn / velvet yarn 80313 yellow (for the body)
- YarnArt Dolce plush yarn / velvet yarn 778 orange (for the beak, legs, and comb)
- Acrylic or cotton yarn color black (for eye detailing)
- 4 mm crochet hook
- 10 mm safety eyes
- Toy stuffing
- Stitch markers

Head (use yellow yarn)
Ch 2, work into the second chain from the hook:
1. 6 sc (6)
2. 6 inc (12)
3. (1 sc, inc) x 6 (18)
4. (2 sc, inc) x 6 (24)
5. (3 sc, inc) x 6 (30)
6. 30 sc (30)

Tail (use yellow yarn)

Fold in half, crochet 6 sc through both layers. Do not stuff. Fasten off, leave a long tail for sewing.
Leg (make 2) (use orange yarn)
Ch 2, work into the second chain from the hook:

2. 6 inc (12)
3-4. 12 sc (12)
5. 6 dec (6)
Stuff the leg. Do not stuff further.
6-10. 6 sc (6) - 5 rounds.
Fasten off, leave a long tail for sewing.
Beak (use orange yarn)
Ch 2, work into the second chain from the hook:
1. 4 sc (4)
2. 4 inc (8)
3. (1 sc, inc) x 4 (12)
Stuff. Fasten off, leave a long tail for sewing.
Toy Assembly and Finishing
- Sew the beak approximately across rounds 10, 11, and 12.
- Make eye indentations.
- Embroider the eyelid with black yarn.
- Embroider the comb with orange yarn. To do this, make 4-5 elongated stitches at the center top of the head.
- Sew the head to the body.
- Sew on the wings in round 14 of the body.
- Sew on the tail in rounds 6-7 of the body.
- Sew on the legs in rounds 4-5, spacing them 3-4 sc apart.
