Amigurumi plush cats crochet

Free Plush Cats crochet tutorial by Olga Kim @kimolya_toys.

With this pattern, you can crochet a plush cat. Any plush yarn and a matching crochet hook will work for this amigurumi project. The tutorial also includes instructions for knitting a hat and crocheting a scarf and beret.

  • 4 mm and 2.75 mm crochet hooks

  • Safety eyes

Body

1. 6 sc in MR (6)
2. 6 inc (12)
3. (1 sc, 1 inc) x 6 (18)
4. (2 sc, 1 inc) x 6 (24)
5. (3 sc, 1 inc) x 6 (30)
6. In back loops only: (4 sc, 1 inc) x 6 (36)
7-8. 36 sc
9. (4 sc, 1 dec) x 6 (30)

Stuff the body.

Start crocheting the ears. In the first stitch of round 20, crochet a dc, then fold the top in half and, working through both sides, (do not miss the last sc from round 19) crochet 1 hdc, 1 sc, 7 sl st, 1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc in the remaining 1 stitch.

Fasten off. You can hide the yarn end right away, or leave it for embroidering the eyelids.

Tail

1. 6 sc in MR
2-4. 6 sc
5. 1 dec, 4 sc
6-13. 5 sc

Sew on the tail.

Eyes

  • For the eyes, cut circles from felt or crochet them from white yarn of a suitable weight (6 sc in MR, 6 inc).
  • Glue or sew on the circles.
  • Glue on the safety eyes.
  • Shape the muzzle. The nose can be embroidered (I used Himalaya Dolphin Baby for the nose).

Hat for the Big Cat

For the hat, cast on 16 stitches and knit in 1x1 ribbing to the desired height, then gather and sew it closed.

Beret for the Small Cat

1. In MR crochet 2 ch, 8 dc
2. 2 ch, 7 inc, 1 dc in the first stitch
3. 8 dec

Scarf

For the scarf, chain 80 ch, turn your work, and starting from the third chain from the hook, crochet 78 sc in front loops only. Then make 1 turning chain and crochet 79 sc in front loops only.

Sew the hat and beret between the ears.
