Plush Bear and Bunny

Difficulty Level: easy

Amigurumi Bear and Bunny crochet pattern

Free crochet tutorial for Bear and Bunny by Anna Skvortsova @skvorushkindom.

With this pattern, you can crochet a plush bear and a plush bunny. The base - head, body with lower legs, upper legs (joined while crocheting), tail, and muzzle - is crocheted from the same pattern for both bear and bunny. The only difference is the ears. Bear ears are sewn on during assembly; bunny ears can be crocheted into the head while crocheting.

Finished toy size is about 20 cm.

Bear and bunny amigurumi crochet pattern

Start by crocheting the ears and upper legs.

Bear ears (make 2)

Round 1: ch 2, 6 sc in the second ch from hook
Round 2: inc x 6 = 12
Round 3: = 12, cut yarn, fasten the end, and hide it when sewing to the head.

Bunny ears (make 2)

Round 1: ch 2, 6 sc in the second ch from hook
Round 2: (sc, inc) x 3 = 9
Round 3: (2 sc, inc) x 3 = 12
Round 4: (3 sc, inc) x 3 = 15
Round 5: (4 sc, inc) x 3 = 18
Round 6: (5 sc, inc) x 3 = 21
Round 7: (6 sc, inc) x 3 = 24
Rounds 8-10: 3 rounds = 24
Round 11: (6 sc, dec) x 3 = 21
Rounds 12-13: 2 rounds = 21
Round 14: (5 sc, dec) x 3 = 18
Rounds 15-16: 2 rounds = 18
Round 17: (4 sc, dec) x 3 = 15
Rounds 18-19: 2 rounds = 15
Round 20: (3 sc, dec) x 3 = 12
Rounds 21-23: 3 rounds = 12
Round 24: (sc, dec) x 4 = 8
Round 25: = 8
Round 26: crochet both sides together - 4 sc, cut yarn, fasten and hide the end.

Upper legs (make 2)

Round 1: ch 2, 6 sc in the second ch from hook
Round 2: (inc, sc, inc) x 2 = 10
Rounds 3-9: 7 rounds = 10
Round 10: (3 sc, dec) x 2 = 8

Optional: add a little stuffing in the leg, crochet both sides together - 4 sc, cut yarn, fasten and hide the end.

Body and head

Upper legs are joined while crocheting. Start with the left lower leg.

Round 1: ch 2, 6 sc in the second ch from hook
Round 2: inc x 6 = 12
Rounds 3-6: 4 rounds = 12, sl st, cut yarn, fasten the end.

Crochet the right leg the same way, then join:

Round 7: ch; 12 sc along left leg; 13th sc into base of 1st sc on left leg; sc along chain; 12 sc along right leg; 13th sc into base of 1st sc on right leg = 28, I recommend marking the beginning of the round here
Round 8: inc (over chain), 12 sc, 3 inc (centered - over chain and neighboring sc), 12 sc = 32
Rounds 9-16: 8 rounds = 32
Round 17: In this round make decreases symmetrical to increases in round 8, i.e. centered. Since the center shifts slightly, move decreases by 1 sc: sc, dec, 12 sc, 3 dec, 11 sc = 28
Rounds 18-19: 2 rounds = 28
Round 20: (5 sc, dec) x 4 = 24
Round 21: Crochet in upper legs: 7 sc; 4 sc catching the leg; 8 sc; 4 sc catching the leg; sc. Important: depending on your gauge, yarn, and hook size, stitch placement may shift. If you do not like the arm placement (they should be symmetrical on the body sides), shift them by 1-2 sc.
Round 22: (2 sc, dec) x 6 = 18
Round 23: (4 sc, dec) x 3 = 15, then without stopping, start crocheting the head:
Round 24: (4 sc, inc) x 3 = 18
Round 25: (2 sc, inc) x 6 = 24
Round 26: (3 sc, inc) x 6 = 30
Round 27: (4 sc, inc) x 6 = 36
Rounds 28-33: 6 rounds = 36
Round 34: (4 sc, dec) x 6 = 30
Round 35: (3 sc, dec) x 6 = 24

Next - for the bear:

Round 36: (2 sc, dec) x 6 = 18
Round 37: (sc, dec) x 6 = 12
Round 38: dec x 6 = 6, sl st, close the opening, cut yarn, fasten and hide the end.

for the bunny:

If it is easier for you to sew on finished ears, rounds 36-38 are crocheted as in the bear pattern. Ears can also be crocheted in:

Round 36: (2 sc, dec) x 5, 2 sc, dec - crochet 2 sc together: with the second one catch a sc of the ear.
Round 37: 3 sc together with ear; dec; 3 sc together with ear; dec - crochet 2 sc together: with the first one catch a sc of the ear; (sc, dec) x 2; sc = 14. Here, as with crocheting in upper legs, shift may differ; choose the placement you like.
Round 38: sc, dec, 3 sc, dec, sc, dec, sc, dec = 10
Round 39: dec x 5, sl st, close the opening, cut yarn, fasten and hide the end.

Muzzle

Yarn held double.

Round 1: ch 2, 6 sc in the second ch from hook
Round 2: inc x 6 = 12
Round 3: (sc, inc) x 6 = 18
Round 4: = 18, leave yarn tail for sewing, fasten yarn.

Tail

Round 1: ch 2, 6 sc in the second ch from hook
Round 2: inc x 6 = 12
Round 3: dec x 6 = 6, cut yarn, fasten and hide the end.

Toy assembly and finishing

Sew on ears - mark placement on the head, secure and hide the plush yarn tail. I recommend sewing ears fully with strong thread, not plush (for example, Iris thread - even if not color-matched, it is not noticeable).

Sew on tail and muzzle, embroider nose with a large needle, attach bead eyes, optionally embroider eyelashes with the same thread, add a scarf or ribbon.
