Parrot

Free crochet tutorial for a Parrot by Tatyana Lysenko @lysenkocrochet.
With this pattern, you can crochet a parrot. For this amigurumi, any cotton blend yarn works well: YarnArt Jeans, Alize Cotton Gold, and others. The head and body are crocheted as one piece, while the wings, legs, beak, crest, and cheeks are sewn on.
Finished toy size is about 20 cm.

Head-Body
The whole toy is crocheted in one piece. Start with yellow yarn for the head. Insert the eyes between rounds 15 and 16, with 8 stitches between them.

Pull the opening closed, fasten off, and hide the yarn tail. When stuffing the body, pack it firmly.
Wings (2 pieces)
With light gray yarn:

Fold the piece in half and crochet through both layers for about 18 sc.
Next, return to the beginning of round 7 and join white yarn.
Right Wing
Crochet 3 shell sections.
- For the first shell: 1 turning chain, 4 dc in one stitch, ch, join to the next stitch of round 7.
- For the second shell: ch, 3 dc in one stitch, ch, join to the next stitch of round 7.
- For the third shell: ch, 2 dc in one stitch, ch, join to the next stitch of round 7.
Finish with 11 sl st. Fasten off, cut the yarn, and hide the tail.
Left Wing
Crochet as a mirror image. At the beginning, work 11 sl st, then crochet the shells.
- For the first shell: ch, 2 dc in one stitch, ch, join to the next stitch of round 7.
- For the second shell: ch, 3 dc in one stitch, ch, join to the next stitch of round 7.
- For the third shell: 1 turning chain, 4 dc in one stitch, ch, join to the next stitch of round 7.
Fasten off, cut the yarn, and hide the tail.

Toy Assembly
Everything is ready. Start assembling and shaping your little bird. You can pin all parts in place first.

- Sew on the legs, wings, beak, cheeks, and crest.
- Embroider the eyelashes and eye whites. You can use very thin yarn like Iris or embroidery floss.
- Your charming amigurumi parrot is ready!
