Owl Basket

Free crochet tutorial for an Owl Basket by @toys_master.

With this pattern, you can crochet an owl-shaped organizer basket. Any cotton blend yarn will work for the organizer: YarnArt Jeans, Alize Cotton Gold, Gazzal Baby Cotton, and others. For the bird's eyes, you will need black half beads and blue felt.

Materials and Tools

• YarnArt Jeans: 88 light yellow, 79 mint, white (for the eyes), yellow (for the beak)
• 2.5 mm and 4.5 mm crochet hooks
• Safety eyes
• Blue felt
• Thick cardboard or plastic (to reinforce the bottom)
• Glue
• Needle for sewing pieces together
• Scissors

Basket

Crochet with light yellow yarn held in 3 strands and a 4.5 mm hook.

Insert the hook from the wrong side and pull the loop through to the wrong side.

Change the yarn color to mint.

18. Crab stitch

Cut the yarn and weave the end into the work. Fold down the top 4 rounds.

To make the basket stable, cut a circle from a plastic lid, making it slightly smaller than the bottom. Apply hot glue to the bottom of the basket (not too thickly), insert the plastic circle, and press it against a flat surface to shape an even base.

Eyes (2 Pieces)

Crochet with white yarn and a 2.5 mm hook.

Cut the yarn and weave in the end. Cut a circle about 2.5 cm in diameter from blue felt and glue it to the crocheted white circle. Break the posts off the safety eyes with flat-nose pliers and glue the eyes to the blue circle.

Nose-Beak

Ears (2 Pieces)

From the light yellow yarn, cut 10-12 strands about 7.5 cm long and gather them into a bundle. Tie a mint-colored strand around the center of the bundle. Fold the bundle in half and wrap it for 2-2.5 cm.

Thread the yarn end onto a needle and make several stitches to secure the wrapping. Trim the tassels.

Assembly and Finishing

• Sew the ears to the basket.
• Embroider the eyelashes with black thread.
• You can add highlights to the eyes with white acrylic paint. To keep the paint from washing off during laundering, coat the eyes with several layers of clear varnish.
• The crocheted Owl Basket is ready!
