Mini Tiger

Free Mini Tiger crochet tutorial by Anastasiya Smolyakova @crochet__friend.

With this pattern, you can crochet a little tiger cub with a collar. Any cotton blend yarn will work well for this amigurumi project: YarnArt Jeans, Alize Cotton Gold, Gazzal Baby Cotton, and others.

The finished toy is about 13 cm tall.

Materials and Tools

• YarnArt Jeans yarn in the main color (color 23)
• YarnArt Jeans yarn in black (color 53)
• YarnArt Jeans yarn in white (color 62)
• A small amount of any colored yarn for the collar
• 1.75 mm crochet hook
• 6 mm safety eyes
• Toy stuffing
• Needle for sewing pieces and sculpting
• Scissors

Amigurumi Mini Tiger Crochet Pattern

Head

With orange yarn:

Round 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
Round 2: 6 inc (12)
Round 3: (1 sc, inc) x 6 (18)
Round 4: 1 sc, inc, (2 sc, inc) x 5, 1 sc (24)
Round 5: (3 sc, inc) x 6 (30)
Round 6: 2 sc, inc, (4 sc, inc) x 5, 2 sc (36)

Starting with the next round, alternate black and orange. Rounds without a specified color change are worked entirely with orange yarn:

In the next round, make openings for the safety eyes. If you are using sew-on or glue-on eyes, work 66 sc without changes.

At this stage, you can insert the eyes. Start stuffing the head. Continue stuffing as you crochet. When stuffing, pay special attention to the cheeks and shape them.

Make a sl st, cut and fasten off the yarn. Leave a long tail for sewing.

Ears (2 Pieces)

Do not stuff! With orange yarn:

Round 1: 6 sc in MR
Round 2: 6 inc (12)
Round 3: (2 sc, dec) x 3 (9)

Fold in half and crochet 4 sc through both layers. Cut and fasten off the yarn. Leave a long tail for sewing.

Face Shaping

Sew the muzzle between rounds 15 and 21. Now sculpt the eyes. Insert the needle into the "neck" and bring it out at point 1. Insert it at point 2, 1 sc above. Bring it out at point 3 near the second eye and insert it at point 4, also 1 sc above. Bring it out at the "neck." Repeat once more. Tie the ends with two knots and hide them inside the head.

Embroider the nose with black thread, 3 rounds down from the edge of the muzzle (from the eyes), as shown in the photo. Embroider the whites of the eyes with white thread. Embroider the mouth and eyebrows with thin black thread. Sew on the ears 5 rounds down from the beginning of the head.

Fold in half and crochet 4 sc through both layers. Cut and fasten off the yarn. Leave a long tail for sewing on one piece; on the other two, you can make it shorter because the arms will be crocheted into the body.

Stuff as you crochet. With orange:

Rounds 3-4: 16 sc (2 rounds)

For the first leg, cut and fasten off the yarn. Make the second leg the same way, but do not cut the yarn. Crochet one additional shifting stitch to hide the color-change step, then make 3 ch. Join the second leg to the first and continue crocheting the body in the round.

Body

Round 7: 16 sc along one leg, 3 sc along the ch chain, 16 sc along the other leg, 3 sc along the ch chain (38)

Cut and fasten off the yarn. Sew the head to the body. Sew the tail between rounds 14 and 15 of the body so it does not stick upward.

Collar

23 ch, then starting in the fourth ch from the hook, crochet 3 dc in each stitch. Continue this way to the end of the row. Cut the yarn and leave a tail for sewing. Close the collar around the tiger's neck and sew the two edges together.
