Amigurumi mini chicken crochet

Free Mini Chicken crochet tutorial by Tatyana Zhukovich @juju.toys_.

Using this pattern, you can crochet a chicken on a stick. For this amigurumi project, you will need YarnArt Jeans cotton blend yarn (shades are listed below, but you can choose your own colors). The flowers on the body are embroidered with the same thread. The eyes are painted with acrylic.

The finished chicken toy is about 6 cm (excluding the legs). The size depends on your stitch tension and crochet style.

Materials and Tools

  • YarnArt Jeans yarn: 05 cream, 28 graphite, 35 yellow, 26 red, plus colors for embroidery
  • 1.75 mm crochet hook
  • Toy stuffing
  • Stitch markers
  • Pins
  • White and black acrylic paint for the eyes
  • Wooden skewer or magnet (depending on how you want to use the toy)
  • Sewing needle for attaching parts
  • Scissors

Mini Chicken Amigurumi Crochet Pattern

Body

Chain 9. Starting in the 2nd chain from the hook, crochet:

1. inc, 6 sc, 4 sc in the last chain, along the other side of the chain: 6 sc, inc (20)
Place a marker.
2. inc, 8 sc, 2 inc, 8 sc, inc (24)
3. 3 sc in one stitch, 11 sc, 3 sc in one stitch, 11 sc (28)
4. 1 sc, 3 sc in one stitch, 13 sc, 3 sc in one stitch, 12 sc (32)
5. 32 sc
6. 2 sc, 3 sc in one stitch, 15 sc, 3 sc in one stitch, 13 sc (36)
7. 36 sc
8. 3 sc, 3 sc in one stitch, 17 sc, 3 sc in one stitch, 14 sc (40)
Next, shape the tail:
9. 14 sc, skip 20 stitches, starting from the 21st stitch: 6 sc (20)
10. 12 sc, 2 dec, 4 sc (18)
11. 4 sc, "popcorn stitch", 6 sc, 2 dec, 3 sc (16)

Close the piece. Stuff the tail and body.

Moving to the Neck

Count 10 stitches from the tail, join yarn, and starting from the 11th stitch crochet:

Stuff.
3. 16 sc
4. 6 sc, 2 dec, 6 sc (14)
5-7. 14 sc (3 rounds)

Stuff. Close the piece.

Amigurumi mini chicken crochet

Comb

Join red yarn as shown in the photo, chain 5, make a sl st into the head, chain 5 again, make another sl st into the head, and one last time chain 5 and make a sl st into the head. Hide the ends.

Beak

With yellow yarn, chain 3. Starting in the 2nd chain from the hook, crochet: 1 sl st, 1 sc (2). Sew it to round 4 of the head from above.

Under the beak, sew a small loop in red yarn made of 6 ch.

Legs

Crochet with yellow yarn.

Chain 12, starting in the 2nd chain from the hook crochet: 3 sl st; chain 4, starting in the 2nd chain from the hook: 3 sl st, 1 sl st in the joining point; chain 4, starting in the 2nd chain from the hook: 3 sl st; 8 sl st along the chain.

Sew to one side and then the other side of the body at round 3 level.

Finishing the Toy

Add any embroidery you like. Draw the chicken's eyes with white and black acrylic paint. Place the chicken on a skewer (for bouquets, for example), or glue a magnet to the other side of the body.
