Mermaid

A free crochet Mermaid tutorial by @igryshki.plyshki.

Using this pattern, you can crochet a mermaid doll. Any cotton blend yarn will work for this amigurumi project, including YarnArt Jeans, Alize Cotton Gold, or Gazzal Baby Cotton.

The finished toy is about 17 cm tall.

Materials and tools

• Iris yarn: lilac

• 2 mm and 1.4 mm crochet hooks
• 6 mm safety eyes
• Toy stuffing
• Needle for sewing pieces together

Bikini top

The top consists of two stars with a chain of 4 ch stitches sewn to them.

Crochet the stars with a 1.4 mm hook and Iris yarn:

Make an MR and work sc, 1 dc into it (then make a picot: ch 1, insert the hook back into the first dc, and work the two loops on the hook together), sc. Repeat this 4 times. Do not finish the fifth picot; instead, work sc, 1 picot, then sl st into the very first picot.

If you find this too difficult, you can simply crochet 6 sc in MR instead of making the stars.

Arms (make 2)

Round 1: 8 sc in MR (8)
Rounds 2-4: 8 sc (3 rounds)
For the right arm:
Round 5: dec, 6 sc (7)
For the left arm:
Round 5: 6 sc, dec (7)
Continue both arms using the same instructions:
Rounds 6-13: 8 sc (8 rounds)

Fold the opening flat and crochet 3 sc through both layers. Leave a yarn tail for sewing.
