Crochet amigurumi Marco the Dolphin

This free Marco the Dolphin crochet pattern was designed by Kseniya Kostyuk @woodland_kids76.

With this pattern, you can crochet a plush dolphin. You will need LaVita Yarn Velur plush yarn for this amigurumi project, or you can use a similar yarn instead. You will also need cotton yarn or embroidery floss to shape and embroider the face. The head is needle-sculpted, and the eyes are safety eyes.

  • LaVita Yarn Velur 5010 plush yarn (light blue), 1 skein for the main color
  • YarnArt Jeans yarn for facial details: color 75 (pale blue) for needle sculpting and color 53 (black) for the eyebrows and eyelashes
  • 3.5 mm crochet hook
  • 14 mm safety eyes

56-57. 2 rounds of 12 sc. Cut the yarn, leaving enough to finish the piece, then tie the knot. Firmly stuff the sc section at the end of the tail.
58. 6 dec. Cinch the opening closed. Fasten off and cut the yarn. Hide the yarn tail inside the toy.

Needle sculpting

Crochet amigurumi Marco the Dolphin. Needle-sculpting the head

  1. Insert the needle into the center of round 9 and bring it out at the outer corner of the eye (А). Insert it at the inner corner (Б), then bring it out at the inner corner of the second eye (В). Insert it at the outer corner (Г), then bring it out at the same point where you began the sculpting (А1). Pull the thread carefully and tie 3 knots. Cut the thread and hide it inside the toy.

А1 - А - Б - В - Г - А1

  1. Insert the needle into the center of round 9 and bring it out at the inner corner of the first eye (Б). Insert it just above the inner corner of the same eye (Б1), then bring it out just above the inner corner of the second eye (В1). Insert it at the inner corner (В), then bring it out at the same point where you began the sculpting (А1). Pull the thread carefully and tie 3 knots. Cut the thread and hide it inside the toy.

А1 - Б - Б1 - В1 - В - А1

  1. Insert the needle into the center of round 9 and bring it out at the inner corner of the first eye (Б). Insert it at the inner corner of the second eye (В), skip one stitch, then bring it out at the same point where you began the sculpting (А1). Pull the thread carefully and tie 3 knots. Assembly

Crochet amigurumi Marco the Dolphin. Assembling the toy

  1. Sew the fins to the end of the tail. Sew the inner edges of the fins together above the tail.
  2. Sew the dorsal fin along the center of the body between rounds 20 and 30.
  3. Sew the side fins between rounds 22 and 28, about 8 stitches away from the dorsal fin.
  4. Sew the lip over the spot where you made the third needle-sculpting pass, hiding the sculpting stitches.
  5. Embroider the whites of the eyes, eyebrows, and eyelashes.
