Amigurumi baby penguin crochet pattern
Wings (2 pieces)
Work in turning rows, making a turning chain at the beginning of each row. Make 2 pieces for each wing layer (2 in the accent color and 2 in the main color; do not cut the yarn after finishing the main-color wing piece). Ch 2:
1: starting in the second chain from the hook, crochet 3 sc into one stitch
2: 3 sc
3: inc, 1 sc, inc (5)
4: 5 sc
5: inc, 3 sc, inc (7)
6: 7 sc
7: inc, 5 sc, inc (9)
8: inc, 7 sc, inc (11)
9-14: 11 sc (6 rows)
15: dec, 7 sc, dec (9)
16: 9 sc
17: dec, 5 sc, dec (7)
18-19: 7 sc (2 rows) in the accent color
Fasten off and cut the accent-color yarn. Do not cut the main-color yarn, because you will use it to stitch the two wing pieces together.
Join the wing pieces and crochet around the entire edge with sc in the main color. At the tip of the wing, make 3 sc in one spot to form the corner. You should end up with 7 sc across the top. Cut the yarn and fasten off. The wings will be crocheted into the body later. Make the second wing the same way.
Body and head
Crochet the body and head as one piece, working the wings into the body as you go.

Second tummy patch
Use YarnArt Mink yarn and work in turning rows the same way. Ch 10:
1: starting in the second chain from the hook, crochet 9 sc
2: inc, 7 sc, inc (11)
3: inc, 9 sc, inc (13)
4: inc, 11 sc, inc (15)

10: dec, 9 sc, dec (11)
11: dec, 7 sc, dec (9)
12: dec, 5 sc, dec (7)
13: dec, 3 sc, dec (5)
14: dec, 1 sc, dec (3 sc)
15: crochet all 3 together, cut the yarn, and fasten off
Feet (2 pieces)
Use YarnArt Jeans yarn. Crochet 3 toes. Cut the yarn after the 1st and 2nd toes, but do not cut it after the 3rd toe because you will continue crocheting:
1: 6 sc in MR
2: (1 sc, inc) x 3 (9)
3: 9 sc, then join all the toes together. At the joining points, skip 1 stitch on both toes. Crochet 4 sc, then along the second toe crochet 4 sc, along the third toe crochet 8 sc. Do not forget to skip 1 stitch on each side between the toes. Then crochet back along the second toe on the reverse side for 4 sc, and along the first toe for 4 sc.
4: Joined (24 sc)

Sew closed the holes that formed and continue crocheting. From this point on, you no longer need to follow the marker. Make decreases on both sides every other round, simply folding the piece in half and decreasing at the very edges.
5: 2 decreases on both sides (one on each side) (22)
6: 22 sc
7: decreases on both sides (20)
8: 20 sc
9: decreases on both sides (18)
10: 18 sc
11: decreases on both sides (16)
Stuff the foot as you crochet
12: 16 sc
13: decreases on both sides (14)
14: 14 sc
15: decreases on both sides, 12 sc
16: decreases on both sides (10)
17: 5 dec
Face patch
Use the accent-color yarn. Ch 12:
1: starting in the second chain from the hook, crochet: inc, 9 sc, 4 sc in the last chain, turn the work and crochet along the underside of the chain to form an oval: 9 sc, inc (26)
2: 2 inc, 9 sc, 4 inc, 9 sc, 2 inc (34)
3: (1 hdc, inc hdc) x 2, 3 hdc, 3 sc, 3 hdc, (1 hdc, inc hdc) x 4, 9 sc, (1 hdc, inc hdc) x 2 (42)
Cut the yarn and fasten off.
Eyes (2 pieces)
Use Vita Coco yarn. Each eye consists of a white part and a black part.

White part of the eye
1: 6 sc in MR
2: 6 inc (12)
3: Turn the work and crochet back in the opposite direction: (1 sc, inc) x 5 (15), find the middle stitch and crochet 4 sc into it, sl st into the first stitch
3: Without turning the work again, crochet 6 sc, 6 dc, 6 sc (18)
Join black yarn and crochet slip stitches through the front loop only, pulling the loops slightly so the eye does not tighten.
Black part of the eye
Ch 4:
1: starting in the second chain from the hook, crochet 2 sc, then 3 sc into the last chain, turn the work and crochet along the underside of the chain to form an oval: 1 sc, inc (8)
2: inc, 1 sc, 3 inc, 1 sc, 2 inc (14), sl st, cut the yarn
Leave a tail for sewing, fasten off, sew the black part onto the white part, and embroider the highlights.
Beak
Use YarnArt Jeans yarn:
1: 6 sc in MR
2: (1 sc, inc) x 3 (9)
3: (2 sc, inc) x 3 (12)
4: 2 inc hdc, 1 sc, 2 inc hdc, 1 sc, 2 inc hdc, 1 sc, 2 inc hdc, 1 sc (20)
4: 1 sc, inc hdc, 1 hdc, inc hdc, 7 sc, inc hdc, 1 hdc, inc hdc, 6 sc (24)
5: 24 sc, sl st
Cut the yarn, leave a tail for sewing, and fasten off.
Tail
1: 6 sc in MR
2: (1 sc, inc) x 3 (9)
3: 9 sc
4: (2 sc, inc) x 3 (12)
5: 12 sc
6: (3 sc, inc) x 3 (15)
7: 15 sc
8: (4 sc, inc) x 3 (18)
9: 18 sc, sl st
Cut the yarn, fasten off, and stuff the tail lightly.
Assembly
Sew the YarnArt Mink tummy patch on top of the main tummy patch. Then sew the tummy patch onto the body.
Sew the face patch directly above the tummy patch and stuff the cheeks lightly. Then sew the feet to the bottom of the body.

Shape the face. Sew the beak between the cheeks, shaping it as you sew and stuffing it lightly. Embroider a black stripe down the center of the beak. Sew on the eyes with white yarn through the back loop only, using the yarn tail left from edging the eye in black through the front loop only. Embroider the eyebrows.
Make a tuft at the back of the head if desired. To do this, I cut blue YarnArt Jeans yarn into short strands and tied one strand into each stitch with a knot. The number of strands you prepare is completely individual and depends on your preference and taste. Then trim them to whatever length looks best to you.
