Little Pug

Free Little Pug crochet pattern by Galina Zatsarnaya @krasota_v_petelkah.

With this pattern, you can crochet an amigurumi pug puppy. Any acrylic or cotton blend yarn will work. You can decorate the dog with a ribbon or a crocheted scarf.

The finished toy is about 13 cm (5.1 in) tall.

Materials and tools

• Acrylic yarn: beige and black (for the pug)
• Red embroidery floss (for the tongue)
• 2–2.5 mm crochet hook
• Safety eyes
• Fiberfill
• White felt
• Ribbon
• Needle for sewing the pieces together
• Scissors

Head

I used two strands of beige yarn held together. If you use a single strand, the toy will be smaller; mine is 13 cm (5.1 in), so keep that in mind.

Rnd 17: 6 sc. Without finishing the round, turn and work 6 sc back across. One side will be slightly longer; sew the tail to the body with this side facing outward.

Muzzle

Use a single strand of black yarn:

Rnd 1: Ch 5. Starting in the second ch from the hook, work 3 sc, 4 sc in the next stitch. Continue around the other side of the chain: 3 sc, 4 sc in the next stitch

Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

Tongue

Use red embroidery floss:

Rnd 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
Rnd 2: Do not join to work in the round. Turn and work 6 sc back across. Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

Assembly

• Pin the tail and legs in place with colored pins, then sew them to the body. You can insert wire into the tail if desired. I shaped mine into a half-ring and sewed it to the body along its entire length.
• Add the facial features.
• Pin the ears in place on top of the head, then sew them on.
• Sew the tongue to the muzzle. Just above the tongue, use black yarn and vertical stitches to embroider the nose.
• Lightly stuff the muzzle and sew it to the head.
• Cut two felt circles slightly larger than the beads you are using for the eyes. Glue them to the head on either side of the muzzle, then glue half-round beads on top or sew on regular beads.
• Finally, sew the head to the body.
• Your Little Pug is ready!
