Little Chicken

Free Little Chicken crochet tutorial by Mama Fufa @mamafufa.

With this pattern, you can crochet a tiny baby chicken. For this amigurumi project, you can use any yarn: acrylic, cotton, or cotton blend. The bird's head and body are worked as one piece. The comb, beak, and tail are crocheted afterward. The legs are sewn on. Choose the eye size based on your finished toy size. The author did not provide specific material recommendations. The finished chicken size will depend on yarn thickness and hook size.

It can also be made as a keychain.

Body

1. 6 sc in MR
2. inc x 6 (12)
3. (1 sc, inc) x 6 (18)

7. (5 sc, inc) x 6 (42)
8-15. 8 rounds of 42 sc.
Now fold the piece in half, 21 stitches per side, inserting the hook into the opposite side.
16-18. 21 sc

Insert 6 mm eyes between rounds 19 and 20.

Now sew through both edges to close the second side of the body. Use the same yarn to make the tail.

Tail

Chain 5, make a slip stitch into the body, then repeat 2 more times. Fasten off, the tail is done.

Wings

The two wings are crocheted differently.

Chain 7. Starting from the 2nd chain from the hook, crochet in order: 2 sc, 2 hdc, 2 dc. Done.

For the second wing, also chain 7, but from the 2nd chain crochet in a different order: 2 dc, 2 hdc, 2 sc. Use a needle to pull the yarn tail to the other end. Sew on the wings.

Comb

Attach red yarn at the top of the head. Make 3 ch and one stitch into the top of the head, then repeat 2 more times. Fasten off and hide the yarn tail - the comb is done.

Beak

Slightly below the eyes, attach yellow yarn: leave the yarn tail sticking out to the side, as in the photo. Make 3 ch and one stitch into the head, a little above the first point. Bring the yarn out at the same point where the tail is sticking out. Tie the 2 tails together and hide them.

Legs

Chain 8. In the 4th chain from the hook, make a slip stitch. Chain 3 again and make a slip stitch into the same chain. For the third toe, also chain 3 and make a slip stitch into the same chain. Now crochet 4 sc along the chain - the leg is ready. Sew the legs to the bottom of the body.
