Cut pieces from fabric, suede, or faux fur to match the ears, then sew them to the ears, turning the edges under by 0.5 cm.

Sew the top edge together for about 1.5-2 cm:

Sew to the head above the shoulder, at a height of 3-4 cm. Measure the height from the shoulder, not along the head.

Shaping the Face

If you still have the marker, as I do in the photo above, count 7 rounds up from it, or 4 rounds from the beginning of the work, and place the first pin (red). Then place the other points using my photo as a guide. The distance between the pink points is 8 stitches, between the pink and purple points is 6 stitches, and between the red and purple points is 7 stitches.

Insert the needle into the red point and bring it out at the purple point. Insert it into the pink point, then bring it out at the other pink point. Continue in the same way. Pull very tightly.

Glue on the eyes and nose. Make sure the glue does not get on the outside of the eye, because it cannot be removed and the eye will be ruined.

Glue on the eyelashes. Cut one eyelash in half and carefully glue the halves on top.

Start shading. Carefully shade the mouth dimple.

Apply just a tiny bit of shading around the nose and blend it well.

Then shade around the eyes. The shading should be a little darker closer to the eye. Blend everything carefully and let it dry if the shading product requires it (antique medium, marker, oil paint).

Dress and Hat for the Little Bunny

Before you start knitting the clothes, make a few calculations: how many stitches you need to cast on to start the hat and the dress bodice. For this, knit small swatches from your chosen yarn, 15 stitches by 10 rows. Count how many stitches you get in 1 cm.

Next, measure the neck and head circumference with a measuring tape. If you do not have a measuring tape, use a piece of string and then measure it with a ruler.

My bunny's head circumference is 25 cm.

The neck circumference is 15 cm + 1 cm for overlap.

My calculations showed that I need 2.8 stitches in 1 cm for the hat and 3.1 stitches in 1 cm for the bodice.

So I cast on:

  • 70 stitches for the hat (330 m / 100 g yarn, held double, 3 mm needles)
  • 50 stitches for the bodice (350 m / 100 g yarn, held single, 2 mm needles)
  • 12 stitches are needed to start the sleeves. (50-12=38)

38:2=19-5=14 (this is the back width)

24 stitches remain. Divide them in half for the front panels = 12 stitches.

Knit the Bodice (Cardigan)

Cast on 50 stitches.

Alternate rows 22 and 23 until the bodice reaches the length you need. Try it on.

Sew on the buttons and fasten them.

Skirt

For the skirt, cut a piece of fabric measuring 50 x 10 cm. Fold one edge over twice, hide the raw edge, press it, and sew it by hand or on a sewing machine.

Fold it in half, sew the side seam, and finish the edges with a buttonhole stitch or a zigzag stitch on a sewing machine so they do not fray.

Along the top edge, sew a basting stitch with small stitches and gather it. Be sure to try the skirt on the bunny so it does not turn out too narrow.

Sew the skirt to the knitted bodice of the dress. The side seam on the skirt should be centered at the back of the bodice.

Hat

Cotton yarn 330 m / 100 g. 3 mm knitting needles. I knitted with the yarn held double.

  • Knit 5 rows in 2x2 ribbing
  • Then knit 16 rows in a 2x2 checkerboard pattern (70)
  • Row 22 - knit every 2 stitches together (35), keeping the 1x2 checkerboard pattern
  • Continue knitting in checkerboard pattern for 5 rows
  • Then knit 6 rows in stockinette stitch
  • Bind off the stitches. Sew the side seam.

Crochet a chain cord, 30 cm long. Insert it before the first row of stockinette stitch. Pull it tight. You can make tassels on the ends or attach small pom-poms.
