Amigurumi ice cream bear crochet

Free crochet tutorial for an Ice Cream Bear by Tatyana Kostochenkova @tkostochenkova.

Using this pattern, you can crochet an ice-cream bear with berries: cherry, blueberry, or strawberry. For amigurumi, any cotton blend yarn works well: YarnArt Jeans, Alize Cotton Gold, Gazzal Baby Cotton, and others.

Materials and Tools

  • YarnArt Jeans yarn: 07-sand, 62-white, 33-turquoise, 67-lemon
  • A little red yarn for the cherry and strawberry, purple for blueberries, green for leaves, dark yellow for cream, plus pink, brown, and dark turquoise for details
  • 2 mm crochet hook
  • 5 mm safety eyes

Fold the piece in half and join the edges with 9 sc. Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Finishing the White Ice Cream

  • Join yarn to the last stitch of round 32 (where unworked front loops remain) and crochet shell edging: 2 tch, 4 dc in the same stitch, skip 1 stitch, 1 sc, skip 1 stitch, (5 dc in 1 stitch, skip 1 stitch, 1 sc, skip 1 stitch) x 15.
  • As you can see, the pattern repeat is 4 stitches, but we have 66 stitches in the round. To make the pattern fit without extra stitches, make 2 dec in two random places while crocheting single sc stitches.
  • Finish the round with a sl st into the 2nd tch. Cut and fasten off.
  • Edge the ice cream with one round of sl st, inserting the hook between rounds 32 and 33.
  • Sew the muzzle between rounds 33 and 42. Stuff as you sew. Attach eyes. Embroider the nose, smile, and eyebrows. Cut 2 felt circles (1-1.5 cm in diameter) and glue them on.

Calyx

Rnd 1: 1 tch, 5 sc in MR, sl st into tch
In round 2 we need to crochet 5 leaves, one from each stitch. Chain 4, insert the hook into the 2nd chain from hook, and work back along the chain: 1 sl st and 2 sc.

Insert the hook into the 2nd stitch of round 1 and make 1 sl st. Crochet the other 4 leaves the same way. Finish with a sl st into the 1st tch. Cut and fasten off. Crochet the stem: ch 4, insert the hook into the 2nd chain, crochet 3 sc. Sew the stem to the calyx. Then sew/glue the calyx to the strawberry, the strawberry to the cream, and the cream to the ice cream.

Spot Inside the Ear

Use dark turquoise yarn. In the magic ring, make 2 tch and crochet 12 dc, finish with a sl st into the 2nd tch. Tighten and cut the yarn, sl st into the 2nd tch. Tighten the yarn again, cut, and fasten off. Sew/glue the spot to the ear.

Fold the ears in half, stitch, and sew them onto the ice cream at equal distance from the cream.

Finishing the Lemon Ice Cream

  • Join yarn to the last stitch of round 32 (where unworked front loops remain) and crochet a ruffle: (1 sc, 1 dc, 1 sc) in 1 stitch, sl st in the next stitch, (1 sc, 1 dc, 1 sc) in 1 stitch, sl st in the next stitch, repeat to the end of the round. Cut, fasten off, and hide the tail inside.
  • Edge the ice cream with one round of sl st, inserting the hook between rounds 32 and 33.
  • Sew the muzzle between rounds 33 and 42. Stuff as you sew. Attach eyes. Embroider the nose, smile, eyebrows, and eyelashes. Cut 2 felt circles (1-1.5 cm in diameter) and glue them on.

Beige Cream

Blueberries (3 pieces)

Leaves (3 pieces)

Chain 9, insert the hook into the 2nd chain, crochet 1 sl st, 1 sc, 1 hdc, 4 dc, 4 sc in the last chain, 4 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc, 1 sl st. Cut and fasten off.

Sew/glue in order: cream to the ice cream, leaves to the cream, blueberries to the leaves. Fold the ears in half, stitch, and sew onto the ice cream at equal distance from the cream.

Finishing the Turquoise Ice Cream

  • Join yarn to the last stitch of round 32 (where unworked front loops remain) and crochet a ruffle: (4 sc in 1 stitch) x 66. Cut, fasten off, and hide the tail inside.
  • Chain 30, join yarn to the ice cream by making 1 sl st between rounds 32 and 33. Edge the ice cream with one round of sl st, also inserting the hook between rounds 32 and 33. After completing the round, chain 30 again. Cut and tighten the yarn. Tie the tails into a knot.
  • Sew the muzzle between rounds 33 and 42. Stuff as you sew. Attach eyes. Embroider the nose, smile, eyebrows, and eyelashes. Cut 2 felt circles (1-1.5 cm in diameter) and glue them on.

Dark Yellow Cream

Work all rounds in BLO.

Finish the round with 1 sl st. Chain 3 and edge the circle as follows: 3 tr in 1 stitch, 3 ch, sl st in the next stitch, 3 ch, 3 tr in 1 stitch, 3 ch, sl st in the next stitch, repeat to the end of the round. You should get 18 popcorns in total. Cut and fasten off.

Edge the unworked loops of the circle with sl st. Cut and fasten off.

Cherry

Prepare the stem. Take waxed cord, cut a small piece (about 5 cm), and tie a firm knot at one end.
