Free Hen crochet tutorial by Svetlana Kozlova @ostrovok_toys.
With this pattern, you can crochet a cute plush hen for Easter. Any plush yarn and a matching crochet hook will work for this amigurumi project. The head and body are crocheted as one piece. The wings are made separately and sewn on later. The comb and beak are crocheted directly onto the body. The result is a charming Easter keepsake.
Materials and Tools
- Wolans Bunny Baby yarn: 18 cappuccino (main color, less than half a skein), orange and coral (for the beak and comb)
- 3.75 mm crochet hook
- 7-8 mm safety eyes
- Toy stuffing
- Stitch markers

Crochet the Body
1. Ch 15, starting in the 2nd ch from hook: inc, 12 sc, 4 sc in 1 stitch, 12 sc, inc = 32 sc
2. 2 inc, 12 sc, 4 inc, 12 sc, 2 inc = 40 sc
3. (1 sc, inc) x 2, 12 sc, (1 sc, inc) x 4, 12 sc, (1 sc, inc) x 2 = 48 sc
4. (2 sc, inc) x 2, 12 sc, (2 sc, inc) x 4, 12 sc, (2 sc, inc) x 2 = 56 sc
5. (3 sc, inc) x 2, 12 sc, (3 sc, inc) x 4, 12 sc, (3 sc, inc) x 2 = 64 sc
6-13. 64 sc (8 rounds) = 64 sc
14. 1 dec, 28 sc, 2 dec, 28 sc, 1 dec = 60 sc

Start Stuffing the Body
21. (5 sc, dec) x 6 = 36 sc
Fold the piece and crochet 9 stitches through both loops (back)
22. Crochet 18 sc along the remaining stitches. 18 sc = 18 sc (head)
23-24. 18 sc (2 rounds) = 18 sc
25. (1 sc, dec) x 6 = 12 sc.
Insert the eyes between rounds 23 and 24, 3 sc apart.
25. 6 dec
Wing (2 pieces)
1. 6 sc in MR
2. 6 inc = 12 sc
3. (1 sc, inc) x 6 = 18 sc
4. (2 sc, inc) x 6 = 24 sc
Fold in half and crochet 12 sc through both layers. Do not cut the yarn; keep crocheting.
Wing Edging
2 ch, (3 hdc in 1 stitch, sl st) x 6
Leave a long yarn tail for sewing. Sew the wings along the back, 2-3 rounds down.

Comb
Join yarn one round above the eyes in the center.
Ch 3, work 1 dc in the first ch, then skip one round on the head and work a sl st, repeat 3 times.
Beak
Between the eyes in the center, secure the yarn, ch 2, and work 1 sc in the first ch.
Wattles
Ch 2, work a sl st in the first ch, ch 2, work a sl st in the stitch where you attached the yarn.
