Harry Potter Broom

This free Harry Potter broom crochet pattern was designed by Olga Krylova @fox_and_dog.

With this pattern, you can crochet Harry Potter's magical flying broom. Any brown cotton blend yarn will work well for this amigurumi project. To help the broom hold its shape, you will need to make a wire frame.

The finished toy measures approximately 10 inches (25 cm).

Amigurumi Harry Potter broom crochet pattern

Start by crocheting the broom bristles in dark brown. Work continuously in the round without joining or turning chains.

Begin stuffing and continue to stuff firmly as you crochet.

Continue in light brown. Cut a piece of wire approximately 12 inches (30 cm) long, fold it in half, and twist it together carefully. Wrap tape or adhesive bandage around the wire along its entire length. Insert the end of the wire into the opening and crochet around it to form the broom handle.

Round 41: 8 sc in BLO (8)
Rounds 42-80: 8 sc through both loops (8) - 39 rounds

Begin shaping the tip of the broom handle.

Cut the yarn and fasten off.

Using a needle, weave the yarn tail through the front loops of the stitches in the last round and pull the opening closed. Hide the yarn tail inside the piece.

Shape the curve of the handle by bending it at three points, as shown in the photos below.

Take the gold yarn and attach it to a front loop of Round 30. With the broom bristles pointing down, crochet 16 sc in the front loops. Complete the round by working 1 additional sc into the first stitch of the round where you joined the yarn. Cut the yarn and fasten off.

Work another round in the front loops of Round 33 in the same way. Then move to Round 35 and crochet a round of 16 sc plus 1 additional sc as described above. Crochet 2 more rounds with 17 sc in each round. Do not cut the yarn.

Sl st in the next stitch and crochet the loops: ch 10, then work 9 sl st beginning in the second chain from the hook. Sl st in the next stitch and ch 10 again, then work 9 sl st beginning in the second chain from the hook. Finish with a sl st in the same stitch where you began the second chain. Cut the yarn and fasten off. Hide all yarn tails inside the piece.
