Zhorik the Giraffe and Zhozefina the Giraffe

Free crochet tutorial for Zhorik the Giraffe and Zhozefina the Giraffe by Vilnara Musina @igrushki_malyshki.
With this pattern, you can crochet a giraffe. The tutorial includes 2 toy design options, so you can choose whichever one you prefer. You can use cotter pin joints or thread joints for the legs.
Finished toy size is about 29 cm.

- 6 mm safety eyes

Legs (make 2)
Start crocheting with brown yarn.
Chain 6
1. Starting in the 2nd ch from the hook: 4 sc, 3 sc in the last stitch, turn: 3 sc, inc (12)

If you plan to make cotter pin joints: after crocheting 12 rounds without changes, step 2 rounds down and insert the cotter pin. Stuff the leg.

If you are making cotter pin joints: count 8 sc from the marker and place an additional marker in the 9th sc. Then count 20 sc along the belly and place one more additional marker in the 21st sc. Insert the legs under the marked stitches between rounds 10 and 11.
For the boy, there is no need to change the yarn color; crochet straight for 42 sc (2 rounds). For the girl, change the yarn color to the dress color (pink).

Insert the eyes between rounds 13 and 14, 8 sc apart. If you want to crochet a bug-eyed giraffe, do not insert the eyes. The eyes will be sewn on after the head is crocheted.

Do not stuff the head completely yet. Next, insert the head into the neck (see photo) and finish crocheting the remaining rounds:

Fasten off the yarn.
As you work the decreases, stuff the head using tweezers or a sushi stick. You will not be able to stuff it firmly; use a medium amount of stuffing.
Muzzle

Skirt for the Girl's Dress
Join the pink yarn to the half-loops of round 16 and start crocheting the skirt.

1. Ch 2 for turning, dc into the same stitch, then work a dc increase into each stitch, sl st (84)
2-6. 84 dc, start each round with 2 turning ch (5 rounds)
Overalls for the Boy
Leave a long yarn tail. Chain 48 and 2 turning ch.

3-5. 54 dc, start each row with 2 turning chains.
Next, crochet the shorts:
6. Crochet 27 dc, join to the middle of the overalls
7-8. Work 27 dc in the round
Crochet the second leg of the shorts in the same way. Mark the middle of the overalls with markers; I got 11 dc.

Do not cut the yarn. Crochet a strap for the overalls: ch 24.
1. Turn your work, starting in the 2nd ch from the hook: 23 sc back across. Leave a yarn tail for sewing on the button. Crochet the second strap in the same way.

Toy Assembly
- Sew the horns between rounds 4 and 5
- Sew the ears 2 rounds below the horns
- Sew the muzzle to rounds 15-16
- For the bug-eyed giraffe, sew the eyes above the giraffe's muzzle
