Gingerbread Bear

Free crochet pattern for Gingerbread Bear by Svetlana Bolotova @svetlana_kids_toys.
With this tutorial, you can crochet a little bear with a scarf. Any cotton or cotton blend yarn and a suitable crochet hook will work for this amigurumi project. You can use a pretty button for decoration.
The finished toy is about 16-18 cm tall.
Materials and Tools
- Yarn: colors for the bear, sweater, and scarf
- 1.5-1.75 mm crochet hook
- Thin thread for embroidering the face

Arms (make 2)
Rnd 1. 6 sc in MR
Rnd 2. inc x 6 = 12 sc
Rnd 3. (3 sc, inc) x 3 = 15 sc
Rnds 4-7. (4 rounds) 15 sc
Change the yarn color to the clothing color and crochet the sweater sleeves.
Rnds 8-16. (9 rounds) 15 sc
Rnd 17. (3 sc, dec) x 3 = 12 sc
Rnd 18. Fold the piece in half at the top and crochet 5 sc through both layers.

Legs (make 2)
Left leg.
Rnd 1. 6 sc in MR
Rnd 2. inc x 6 = 12 sc
Rnd 3. (sc, inc) x 6 = 18 sc
Rnds 4-9. (6 rounds) 18 sc
At the end of round 9, crochet 1 ch, pull the yarn through the ch, and cut the yarn.
Right leg.

Next, join the legs. Crochet 5 ch from the right leg and join to the left leg by inserting the hook into the stitch where the last sc of round 9 on the left leg was made. Continue crocheting. The round numbering continues.

Rnd 10. 1 sc in the stitch where the last sc of round 9 on the left leg was made, 18 sc around the left leg, 5 sc along the ch chain, 1 sc in the stitch where the last sc of round 9 on the right leg was made, 18 sc around the right leg, 5 sc along the ch chain = 48 sc
Rnd 11. 48 sc
Change the yarn color from the main color to the clothing color and crochet the sweater.

Toy Assembly
- Sew all the pieces together.
- Embroider the nose and eyebrows.
- Decorate the sweater with buttons if desired.
- Sew the nose between rounds 14 and 22.
- Sew on the eyes (or insert safety eyes) between rounds 14 and 15. The distance between the eyes is about 7 stitches.
