Round 25: (1 sc, dec) x 6 (12)
Round 26: dec x 6 (6)

Continue decreasing stitches to the end. Fasten off and cut yarn.

Limbs

Arms and legs are crocheted the same way, they differ only in length. If you crochet with cotton yarn, the limbs will be dense enough and can be left unstuffed.

Start with green yarn. Ch 3 and join into a ring:

Round 1: inc in each stitch (6)
Round 2: (inc, work 3 sc in one stitch of the previous round) x 3 (15)
Round 3: 15 sc
Round 4: dec, 5 sc, dec, 6 sc (13)
Round 5: dec, 3 sc, dec, dec, 2 sc, dec (9)

For the arms, crochet 15 more rounds of 9 sc (green for the girl frog). For the boy frog, after 9 rounds change yarn color to lemon and crochet two rounds. Crochet the next two rounds in green, then switch back to lemon. Crochet two rounds and close the piece with the same yarn.

Fold the edges of the limb together and join them by crocheting 4-5 sc (this makes sewing easier). Fasten off and cut the yarn, but not too short, since you will use it to attach the limb to the body.

For the legs, crochet 17 more rounds of 9 sc (green for the girl frog). For the boy frog, after 10 rounds switch to lemon yarn and crochet two rounds, then two more rounds in green and 3 rounds in lemon. Close the piece with the same yarn.

Fold the edges of the limb together and join them by crocheting 4-5 sc. Fasten off and cut yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing on the leg.

Eyes

White yarn. Ch 3 and join into a ring:

Round 1: inc in each stitch (6)
Round 2: inc in each stitch (12)
Round 3: 12 sc
Round 4: dec x 6 (6)

No stuffing is needed. Decrease to the end. Fasten off and cut yarn short; you will not need it.

Eyelids

Green yarn. Ch 3 and join into a ring:

Round 1: inc in each stitch (6)
Round 2: inc in each stitch (12)
Round 3: (1 sc, inc) x 6 (18)
Round 4: 18 sc

Place the "eyeball" against the unfinished eyelid and check whether you like how it looks. If you want the white part to be more covered and less visible, crochet one more round - 18 sc. Fasten off and cut yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Finishing and Assembly

Apply shading along the inner edge of the eyelids. This step is optional, but it makes the eyes more expressive. If you use paint, let it dry completely before continuing with the pieces.

Glue eyelashes to the eyelids for the girl frog.

Glue glass eyes onto the white parts. You can also use plastic half-sphere eyes or safety eyes (you will need to cut off the threaded post).

Join the eyelid and the eyeball and check how the expression changes depending on eyelid placement. Choose the version you like best, then glue the eyelid and eye white together.

Sculpting

Using a strong thread of any color, shape the muzzle under the eyes. Sew on the eyes. Finish the face details.

Head sculpting

Belly Button

This detail is optional, but cute. To make it, secure green yarn at the toy's neck (where the head will be sewn on), bring the needle out in the center of the belly, make one stitch, and return to the neck. Pull the yarn to create a small indentation and secure it with a knot.

Sew On

Sew the head and limbs to the body.

Skirt

With lemon yarn, make a chain of 42 ch and join into a ring.

Round 1: 42 sc
Round 2: (sc, inc, sc, inc, sc, inc, 2 ch arch, skip next stitch) x 6

In each next round, make increases every other stitch, and increase the ch arch each time: in round 3 - 3 ch, in round 4 - 4 ch, and so on. Three rounds seemed enough for me.
