Fluffy Bear

Free Fluffy Bear crochet tutorial by Alena Evdakova @a.evdakova.

With this pattern, you can crochet a bear. Any long-pile yarn will work for this amigurumi toy. The designer recommends Nako Paris yarn. For a fluffy finish, brush the toy with a slicker brush or hook-and-loop tape.

Fluffy Bear Amigurumi Crochet Pattern

Work the toy in the round with the wrong side facing out. Crochet all pieces separately, then sew them together. You do not need to keep the stitch marker aligned. If you work with the right side facing out, make sure the increases for the belly are centered.

Head and Body

In the next round, make the increases for the belly. Make sure the 6 increases are centered on the toy. If needed, work a few extra sc to shift their position, or undo 1-2 sc.

Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing. Work the second leg the same way. There should be 13 sc between the legs at both the front and the back. Finish stuffing the center and sew the opening closed.

Finishing and Assembly

• First, sew on the lower paws.
• Next, sew on the muzzle, adding a little more stuffing when only a few stitches remain.
• Brush the bear to fluff up the yarn. Hook-and-loop tape works especially well; brush in both directions for fuller fur.
• Trim the fur on the lower paws, muzzle, and where the eyes will go.
• Brush the upper paws and sew them on.
• Sew on the ears and tail.
• Glue on the nose. Before attaching the eyes, add shading. I used soft pastels on the white bear and a fabric marker on the brown one. I also shade the inside of the ears and the area around the nose, then draw a short line down from the nose. Take care not to overdo it.
• Glue on the eyes, then add the eyelids. I made mine from velour cord. You can also crochet them from yarn: make 4 ch, then work 3 sc starting in the second chain from the hook.
