Crochet amigurumi fawn

Free crochet tutorial for a fawn by Zhanna @owls_happiness.

With this pattern, you can crochet a deer. Any yarn works well for this amigurumi. To create a fluffy effect, you can use wool or long-pile yarn, for example Nako Paris. At the end, brush the finished toy with a slicker brush.

Materials and Tools

  • Main yarn: Nako Paris, less than one skein
  • YarnArt Jeans yarn for the hooves
  • Iris yarn in black and brown
  • 2.2 mm or 2.5 mm crochet hook
  • Safety eyes (or embroider the eyes)
  • Toy stuffing
  • Needle for sewing parts
  • Slicker brush or hook-and-loop tape
  • Scissors

Ears (make 2)

Use thin Iris yarn held double.

Sew the ears to the sides of the head and the antlers in the center. Embroider the nose and eyes neatly on the muzzle. If you prefer, insert safety eyes or embroider them.

Toy Assembly

  • Sew the head to the body. On mine, the protruding part is the belly, but if you sew the head the other way around and a bit to the side, it will look like the fawn is lying on its tummy with its bottom up.
  • All legs are made with thread-joint attachment.
  • Sew the tail at the back.
  • Sew the antlers onto the head.
  • Embroider the nose and eyes.
  • You can brush the fawn with a slicker brush.
