Martin the Elephant

A free crochet tutorial for Martin the Elephant.

Using this pattern, you can crochet an elephant in little pants and boots. The tutorial also includes a bird pattern. Any cotton yarn and a matching crochet hook will work for this amigurumi project.

The finished toy size is about 20 cm.

Materials and tools

• DMC Natura cotton yarn (50 g / 150 m)
• 2.5 mm crochet hook
• 6 mm safety eyes
• Black thread for embroidering the face
• 2 black 3 mm beads

Finish off. Leave a long tail. Stuff the head. Embroider diagonal eyebrows across round 18 above the eyes. Embroider the mouth.

Straps (make 2)

With blue yarn:

Leave a long tail at the beginning. Ch 25. Work in rows.

Finish off, leave a long tail. Sew one end of each strap to the back, cross the straps, and sew the other ends to the front (round 19 of the body). Keep 8 stitches between the straps at the back and 11 stitches at the front. Sew red buttons to the front.

Finish off. Close the opening and hide the yarn end. Embroider the eyes between rounds 3 and 4.

Wings (make 2)

Start with yellow yarn:

7 ch, skip 6 stitches, sl st into the first chain.

Finish off, leave a long tail. Sew between rounds 6 and 7 of the body.

Beak

With orange yarn:

3 ch, skip 2 stitches, sc into the first chain.

Finish off, leave a long tail. Sew to round 5 of the head.
