Egg Baskets

Free Egg Basket crochet tutorial by Elizaveta Kamalina @ka.malinka_toys.

Using this pattern, you can crochet Easter decor: egg baskets. These crocheted egg holders are made as a bunny and a chick. For this amigurumi project, cotton blend yarn and a suitable hook will work well. Both baskets share the same base and differ only in details: bunny ears, little wings, and different faces.

These holders fit medium-size eggs.

Materials and tools

• YarnArt Jeans yarn: 35 yellow, 51 red, 85 orange (for the chick)
• YarnArt Jeans yarn: 03 milk, 20 pink (for the bunny)
• Alize Cotton Gold Tweed yarn: 533 gray (for the bunny)
• 2 mm crochet hook
• 5-6 mm safety eyes
• Toy stuffing
• Stitch markers
• Pins
• Black thread for embroidery
• Needle for sewing parts
• Scissors

• MR - magic ring
• ch - chain stitch
• sl st - slip stitch
• sc - single crochet
• dc - double crochet
• hdc - half double crochet
• inc - increase

• BLO - back loop only

Amigurumi egg basket crochet pattern: chick and bunny

Basket

Start crocheting with yellow/gray yarn:

1. 8 sc in MR
2. (inc) x 8 (16)
3. (1 sc, inc) x 8 (24)
4. (2 sc, inc) x 8 (32)
5. (3 sc, inc) x 8 (40)
6. (4 sc, inc) x 8 (48)
7. In BLO: 48 sc
8-13. 48 sc (6 rounds)
14. For the chick: 20 sc, switch to red: (sl st, 3 hdc in one stitch) x 3, sl st, switch to yellow: 18 sc, 3 dc in one stitch, 1 sc, sl st. Fasten off and cut the yarn.
14. For the bunny: 48 sc. Fasten off and cut the yarn.

Wings for the chick

With yellow yarn:

1. 6 sc in MR, sl st
2. Ch 5, starting in the second chain from the hook: 4 sc, sl st into the MR.
3. Ch 7, starting in the second chain from the hook: 6 sc, sl st into the MR.
4. Ch 5, starting in the second chain from the hook: 4 sc, sl st into the MR.
5. 4 sl st into the MR

Fasten off, leaving a yarn tail for sewing. Make the second wing the same way.

Ears for the bunny

With gray yarn:

Ch 12, starting in the second chain from the hook: 4 sc, 3 hdc, 3 dc, 5 dc in one stitch, along the other side of the chain: 3 dc, 3 hdc, 4 sc, sl st.

Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing. Make the second ear the same way.

Muzzle for the bunny

With milk-colored yarn:

Ch 5, starting in the second chain from the hook:

1. inc, 2 sc, 4 sc in one stitch, along the other side of the chain: 2 sc, inc (12)
2. 12 sc

Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.

Tail for the bunny

With milk-colored yarn:

1. 6 sc in MR
2. (inc) x 6 (12)
3. 12 sc
4. (dec) x 6 (6)

Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.

Finishing the Easter baskets

Attach the eyes between rounds 11 and 12, spacing them 3-4 sc apart.

For the chick, embroider the beak and feet with orange thread. Sew on the wings.

For the bunny, sew on the ears, muzzle, and tail. Embroider the nose with pink thread. Embroider whiskers with thin black thread.
