Amigurumi crochet egg basket for Easter

Free Egg Basket crochet tutorial by @byluizasmom.

With this pattern, you can crochet an Easter plate-basket for eggs. You can use t-shirt yarn or polyester cord, and you will also need a suitable crochet hook.

The finished basket measures about 30 cm in outer diameter and 11 cm in inner diameter. Your results may vary depending on the materials you choose. You can place Easter bread (kulich) in the center, and a dozen large eggs will fit around the edges.

Crochet pattern for an amigurumi Easter egg plate-basket

It is very simple and repetitive to crochet:

Chain 21 (ch). Working back into the second chain from the hook, crochet 15 single crochets (sc), 5 slip stitches (sl st), make 1 ch, turn the work, then continue with a 2-row repeat in back loop only (always start in the second stitch from the hook):

Row 1: 5 sl st, 10 sc, 5 hdc, 1 ch (hdc is a half double crochet). Turn.
Row 2: 15 sc, 5 sl st, 1 ch

Turn and repeat this pair about 42-45 times. Do not add anything else. You should get a fan-like piece that you then seam together with slip stitches.

I did not add an extra edging around the sides, but you can add one if you like. After seaming, it is important to spread out the outer diameter well, stretch it a bit if needed, and shape it as required. T-shirt yarn is flexible and makes this possible.

If your yarn has almost no stretch, you can try a stitch combination: sl st, sc, hdc, dc (double crochet). In this case, the fan will be even wider along the outer edge, making it easier to close and shape into a torus.
