Pi Chick

Free Pi Chick crochet tutorial by Lyudmila Savchenko @milka_plush_toys.

With this pattern, you can crochet a plush Easter chick. For this amigurumi project, any plush yarn and a matching hook will work. Main color usage is 40 g, additional colors are 10 g each.

Finished toy size is about 13 cm.

Materials and Tools

• Himalaya Dolphin Baby plush yarn: 80313-yellow (main), 80316-orange (for legs and beak), 80352-red (comb)
• 3.0-3.5 mm crochet hook
• 8-9 mm safety eyes
• Toy stuffing
• Sewing needle for attaching parts
• Scissors

Tail

Round 1. 4 sc in MR
Round 2. 1 inc, 1 sc, 1 inc, 1 sc = 6
Round 3. (1 inc, 1 sc) x 3 = 9
Round 4. (2 sc, 1 inc) x 3 = 12
Round 5. 12 sc

Fasten off and cut yarn.

Beak

Round 1. 4 sc in MR
Round 2. (1 inc, 1 sc) x 2 = 6

Wing 1

Round 1. 6 ch
Round 2. In the second chain from the hook: 1 inc, 3 sc, (1 hdc, 2 dc, 2 hdc in 1 stitch), 2 sc, 1 inc = 14
Round 3. 5 sl st, (1 sc, 1 hdc in one stitch), (1 hdc, 1 sc in one stitch), 1 inc, 1 sc, 5 sl st = 17

Fasten off and cut yarn.

Wing 2

Round 1. 6 ch
Round 2. In the second chain from the hook: 1 inc, 3 sc, (2 hdc, 2 dc, 1 hdc in 1 stitch), 2 sc, 1 inc = 14

Place the eyes between rounds 19 and 20, two stitches away from the beak on each side.

Pull the opening closed, secure the yarn, and cut it. Note that the tail should be centered on the back. If your marker has shifted, use the legs as reference and adjust the number of sc worked across the body.

Comb

Find the center at the top of the head. Join the red yarn in this stitch. Then crochet toward the back of the head following this pattern.
