Easter Chick

Free Easter Chick crochet tutorial by Evgenia Pologutina @igrushki.22.
With this pattern, you can crochet a chick wearing a hat with bunny ears. For this amigurumi project, you need YarnArt Jeans yarn (main) and Gazzal Organic Baby Cotton (for the beak and feet). You can substitute similar yarns or crochet the whole toy with one yarn type. The hat with ears has tie strings; you can sew it in place if desired.
Materials and tools
- YarnArt Jeans: 88 (for head and body), 01 (for hat), 79 (for ears on the hat), 19 (for embroidered spots)
- Gazzal Organic Baby Cotton: 418 (for beak and feet)
- Black thread for embroidering the eyes
- 2 mm crochet hook

Head-body

Stuff the head firmly with fiberfill.

Stuff the body firmly with fiberfill

Finish stuffing the body. Fasten off and cut the yarn, then hide the yarn tail inside the piece. Embroider the eyes in Round 12 as shown in the photo. The distance between eyes is 6 sc (measure between the lower inner corners of the eyes).
Wings
Crochet 2 pieces in yellow. Leave a yarn tail about 15 cm long at the start for sewing.
Row 1. 10 ch
Row 2. Starting in the second chain from the hook: 6 sc, ch, turn (do not work to the end of the row)
Work all following rows in back loops only
Row 3. 4 sc, ch, turn
Row 4. 4 sc, 1 sc into the chain from Row 1, ch, turn
Row 5. 3 sc, ch, turn
Row 6. 3 sc, 1 sc into the chain from Row 1, ch, turn
Row 7. 2 sc, ch, turn
Row 8. 2 sc, 1 sc into the chain from Row 1
Row 9. Along the opposite side of the chain from Row 1, work 8 sc
Fasten off, cut the yarn, and hide the yarn tail.

Beak
Crochet in orange.
Round 1. 5 ch, join into a ring with sl st
Round 2. 5 sc
Fasten off and cut the yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Feet
Crochet 2 pieces in orange.
Row 1. 5 ch
Row 2. Starting in the second chain from the hook: 2 sl st, 3 ch (do not work to the end of the row)
Row 3. Starting in the second chain from the hook (work into the chains made in Row 2): 2 sl st, 1 sl st into the chain from Row 1, 3 ch
Row 4. Starting in the second chain from the hook (work into the chains made in Row 3): 2 sl st, 1 sl st into the chain from Row 1.
Fasten off and cut the yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Hat
Crochet in white.
Round 1. 6 sc in MR
Round 2. 6 inc (12)
Round 3. (1 sc, inc) x 6 (18)

Round 6. (4 sc, inc) x 6 (36)

Without cutting the yarn, make a tie string. Chain 40, fasten off, and cut the yarn.
Count 18 sc from the first tie string, join yarn, chain 40 for the second tie string, fasten off, and cut the yarn.

Ears for the hat
Crochet 2 pieces in mint color.
Round 1. 6 sc in MR
Round 2. (1 sc, inc) x 3 (9)
Round 3. (2 sc, inc) x 3 (12)
Round 4. (3 sc, inc) x 3 (15)
Rounds 5-9. 15 sc (5 rounds)
Round 10. (3 sc, dec) x 3 (12)
Fold the edges of the piece together and work 6 sc through both layers. Fasten off and cut the yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing. Embroider lilac spots on one ear. Then fold each ear in half and stitch the ear edges together.
Finishing and assembly

- Sew the beak between Rounds 12 and 14, centered between the eyes.
- Pin the wings to the sides of the body and sew them on. Make sure they are positioned symmetrically.
- Sew the feet at the bottom, between Rounds 32 and 34.
Hat
Sew the ears to the hat between Rounds 1 and 4. Secure the yarn tail inside the piece and cut it.
