Legs + Skates

Start with turquoise yarn (or the color you chose) and crochet the boots:

1: make a chain of 10 ch + 1 tch, 1 sc in the 3rd ch from the hook, 7 sc, 5 sc in the last ch. Continue on the other side of the chain: 8 sc, sl st (21)
2: 2 tch, 1 hdc, hdc inc, 6 hdc, 2 hdc inc, 2 hdc, 2 hdc inc, 6 hdc, hdc inc, 1 hdc, sl st (28)
3: 1 tch, 10 sc, 2 sc inc, 5 hdc inc, 2 sc inc, 10 sc, sl st (38)
4: 38 sc in BLO
5: 38 sc in BLO
6: 38 sc
7: 10 sc, (dec, 1 sc) x6, 10 sc (32)
8: 12 sc, (dec, 1 sc) x2, dec, 12 sc (29)
9: 8 sc, 6 dec, 9 sc (23)
10: 8 sc, 3 dec, 9 sc (20)
11: 8 sc, 2 dec, 8 sc (18)
12: 18 sc

Stuff the boot firmly.

!! 13: 18 sc in FLO (the boot cuffs).
Fasten off, cut the yarn, and weave in the end.

Change to beige yarn:
!! 13: work in BLO: (4 sc, dec) x3 (15)
14-45 row (32 rows): 15 sc
46: (4 sc, inc) x3 (18)
47: 18 sc
48: (2 sc, inc) x6 (24)

When crocheting the second leg, do not cut the yarn!

Skate Blades

Use light gray Iris yarn and a 1 mm crochet hook.

Crochet 2 pieces, each 4 cm long: 8 sc in MR. Continue working in the round. At the end, make 4 dec and pull the opening closed. Stuff as you go, but not firmly, so you can bend the piece while sewing it on.

Crochet 4 short pieces, each 0.5 cm long (about 3 rows): 8 sc in MR.

Do not pull the opening closed at the end; just fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Stuff the piece. Sew the pieces together, then sew them to the leg. Make imitation laces on the boots.

Joining the Legs

Note!

After joining the legs, a slight deformation will be visible, meaning one leg will be a little larger than the other. This difference will disappear when you stuff the toy. If it still bothers you, you can swap rows 47 and 48 on the legs: row 47: (2 sc, inc) x 6 (24), row 48: 24 sc for the first leg, 10 sc for the second leg. In other words, do not finish this row all the way around; stop at the middle of the inner side of the leg. You can do this only on the second leg. It will not affect the look of the toy, and it will even out the legs.

On the second leg, crochet 10 sc to the middle of the inner side, then make 3 ch. Find the middle on the other leg and join the legs together. Note that my seam runs along the back of the body, so I join the legs with the heels facing me. Continue crocheting in the round:

49: 24 sc along the leg + 3 sc along the chain + 24 sc along the leg + 3 sc along the chain (54). Place a marker.
50-55 row (6 rows): 54 sc
Change to light pink yarn
56: 54 sc
57: 54 sc in BLO
58: 54 sc
Change to beige yarn
59-67 row (9 rows): 54 sc

Stuff the lower part of the body. Stuff the thigh area lightly, because after row 45 you will sew through the legs with stitches so the toy can sit.

68: (7 sc, dec) x6 (48)
69-70: 48 sc
71: (6 sc, dec) x6 (42)
72-73: 42 sc
74: (5 sc, dec) x6 (36)
75-76: 36 sc
77: (4 sc, dec) x6 (30)
78-79: 30 sc
80: (3 sc, dec) x6 (24)
81: 24 sc

Stuff the piece completely. Do not cut the yarn!

Head

Continue crocheting. Crochet the head. Stuff as you go.

82: (3 sc, inc) x6 (30)
83: (4 sc, inc) x6 (36)
84: (5 sc, inc) x6 (42)
85: (6 sc, inc) x6 (48)
86: (7 sc, inc) x6 (54)
87: (8 sc, inc) x6 (60)
88: (9 sc, inc) x6 (66)
89-98 row (10 rows): 66 sc
99: (9 sc, dec) x6 (60)
100: (8 sc, dec) x6 (54)
101: (7 sc, dec) x6 (48)
102: (6 sc, dec) x6 (42)
103: (5 sc, dec) x6 (36)
104: (4 sc, dec) x6 (30)
105: (3 sc, dec) x6 (24)
106: (2 sc, dec) x6 (18)
107: (1 sc, dec) x6 (12)
108: 6 dec

Pull the stitches tight, close the opening, cut the yarn, and weave in the end.

Skirt

The front loops from row 57 are still available. Join light pink yarn and crochet:

1: 54 sc
2: 2 tch, dc inc in each stitch, sl st at the end of the row.
3: 2 tch, (1 dc, dc inc) repeat to the end of the row, sl st at the end.
4: 2 tch, (2 dc, dc inc) repeat to the end of the row, sl st at the end.
5: 2 tch, crochet dc without increases to the end of the row, sl st at the end.

Fasten off, cut the yarn, and weave in the end.

Tail

1: 4 sc in MR
2: inc, 3 sc (5)
3: inc, 4 sc (6)
4: 6 sc
5: inc, 5 sc (7)
6: inc, 6 sc (8)
7: inc, 7 sc (9)
8: 9 sc
9: inc, 8 sc (10)
10: inc, 9 sc (11)
11: inc, 10 sc (12)
12: 12 sc

Stuff the tail lightly and sew it under the skirt.

Paws

Crochet the Mittens (2 Pieces)

Start with turquoise yarn.

1: 6 sc in MR (6)
2: 6 inc (12)
3: (2 sc, inc) x4 (16)
4-6: 16 sc
7: 6 ch, 16 sc (22)
8: 3 dec along the chain in BLO, 15 sc (18)
9: 1 dec (3 stitches together), 15 sc (16)
10: (2 sc, dec) x4 (12)
11: 12 sc in FLO (mitten cuffs).

Fasten off, cut the yarn, and weave in the end.

Crochet the thumb: join yarn in row 8 and crochet 6 sc through the front loops. Pull the opening closed tightly and weave in the end. Stuff the mitten and thumb.

Change to beige yarn and continue crocheting the paw:
11: 12 sc
12-27 row (16 rows): 12 sc
28: 6 dec

Pull the opening closed and cut the yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing. Sew the arms to the body (mine are around row 77).

Ears (2 Pieces)

1: 6 sc in MR
2: 6 inc (12)
3: (1 sc, inc) x6 (18)
4-14 row (11 rows): 18 sc
15: (1 sc, 1 dec) x6 (12)
16-20: 12 sc

Do not stuff. Fold the piece together and crochet 5 sc through both layers. Fasten off and cut the yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Muzzle

1: 6 sc in MR
2: (4 sc in one stitch, 2 sc) x2 (12)
3: 1 sc, (inc) x3, 3 sc, (inc) x3, 2 sc (18)
4: 2 sc, 3 inc, 6 sc, 3 inc, 4 sc (24)
5: 3 sc, (inc, 1 sc) x3, 6 sc, (inc, 1 sc) x3, 3 sc (30)
6-9: 30 sc

Sew the muzzle to the head around row 94, stuffing it as you sew.

Face Details

Attach the nose between rows 3-4 of the muzzle. I made a small indentation in the center under the nose and around the mouth. Sew the ears to the head. Sew one ear with stitches about 5 rows up from the base so the ear bends. Sew on the bead eyes and glue felt pieces into the corners (I cut crescent shapes from felt and glue them around each bead). Embroider the eyelashes and mouth.

Cheeks

Crochet the cheeks with red yarn: 12 sc in MR.

Scarf

Using 2.5 mm knitting needles, cast on 6 stitches + 2 edge stitches.

The scarf is knitted in stockinette stitch: knit the right-side rows and purl the wrong-side rows. Slip the first edge stitch without knitting it, and purl the last edge stitch. Work the scarf stripes as follows: alternate 5 rows with turquoise yarn and 5 rows with pink yarn. After casting on, repeat the paired stripe pattern 6 times. Knit the scarf to 28 cm long, or longer if desired. Bind off all stitches. Decorate the scarf with fringe. For the fringe, you will need 11 cm yarn pieces in both colors. Fold a yarn piece in half and use a crochet hook to pull the loop, the fold of the yarn, through to the wrong side of the scarf. Grab the two loose yarn ends with the hook, pull them through the loop, and tighten gently.

Mask

Cut a mask from red felt (my felt is stiff and about 1.2 mm thick). Attach elastic thread in a matching color and decorate the dog's head with the mask.
