Crochet penguin toy

With this pattern, you can crochet a soldier penguin. Any cotton blend yarn will work for this amigurumi: YarnArt Jeans, Alize Cotton Gold, Gazzal Baby Cotton, and others.

Materials and tools

  • YarnArt Jeans yarn: black, white, orange, red, green, yellow
  • 2-2.5 mm crochet hook
  • Safety eyes

Belly patch

Use white yarn.

This part is made from two circles that are then joined together.

Round 1: First circle of (42 sc), fasten off, leave 20 cm for sewing.
Round 2: Second circle of (54 sc), do not cut yarn, continue crocheting.
Round 3: Sew the two pieces together with the yarn tail left earlier (7 sc), fasten off and cut.
Round 4: Now edge the piece with slip stitches (sl st) in the back loops all around.
Round 5: Place on the body and sew on.

Wings

Round 1: 6 in MR
Round 2: (6)
Round 3: 1 sc, inc (9)
Round 4: (9)
Round 5: 2 sc, inc (12)

Fold in half, crochet 10 sc through both layers. Leave yarn for sewing.

Feet

Use orange yarn.

Round 1: ch 6, from the 2nd ch from hook work in the round (10 sc)

Fold in half, crochet 4 sc through both layers. Leave yarn for sewing.

Beak

Use orange yarn.

Leave yarn for sewing.

Belt

Use red yarn.

Ch 65, then crochet sc around. Try it on as you go. You may need to increase or decrease the number of chains.

Buckle

Use yellow yarn.

Round 1: 8 in MR
Round 2: (1 sc, (3 sc in 1 stitch)), x 4 times (16)

Optionally embroider a little star. Sew on.

Beret

Use green yarn.

Round 1: 6 in MR

Round 5: 3 sc, inc (30)
Round 6: 4 sc, inc (36)

Round 8: (42) in back loops only

Switch to black yarn.
Round 10: crochet 35 sc, then from the last (36th) stitch chain 6, from the 2nd ch from hook work back down with slip stitches (5). Repeat once more.
